I resigned from my job today... Which went down like a ton of bricks. The current job is at a very small company (just my two bosses who are a couple and myself)
My female boss (and the bigger shareholder) is absolutely useless at coping with this sort of thing (just one of my many reasons for leaving). Instead of simply handing her a letter on the 1st of the month, I went to her personally, a week before the time, and told her that I had made a very difficult decision to move on. She instantly turned her body sideways, crossed her arms and stopped making eye contact. Her first words were about how I have made life extremely difficult for them and how will they go on a holiday again and then some other mumblings. After I walked away, she turned to her partner and said it was a $&@# insult. From then on, all correspondence regarding the resignation was via email. She is absolutely incapable of having a mature face to face conversation.
Oh well... I was hoping it would go better but I suspected that her reaction would be like this and it just confirms that I have made the right decision.
The worst is over, thank goodness. Onward and upward.
