Two very different coats

1-6: Teddy Bear Coat in red. Angie said it swamped everyone. I don’t think it’s swamping me, though. Or maybe I’m wrong. Is it just unflattering? I like it, but my husband doesn’t.

7-9: Lightweight Hooded Duffle Coat in grey. The fabric feels nice and it’s grey. I laid it down for a little while and it managed to get wrinkled. A bad omen? I like it and my husband does too.

Well , your husband might be confused by your shorts with the coat . If not , just ignore him . I think the coat is super fun and great and not overwhelming . I want it !

I think the red coat is gorgeous. Undone it swamps you a little, done up it doesn’t IMO. The grey is nice too.

I really like the red one, Janet. It would "play" better styled. Makes a huge difference to how you (or husband) experience it, I'm sure.

The grey one is okay...I'm not as crazy about it, maybe for the reason you mentioned (easy wrinkling). But I do like it and if you do, that's the main thing! You are probably experiencing it differently as we often do when we get close up to something.

Oh, wow, do you ever look fantastic in red! If this isn’t the one, I hope you have or will seek out another red coat.

I like the grey coat, too. The wrinkles would bother me if they don’t fall out quickly. I have a fairly high tolerance for wrinkles, but not in coats.

Styling would definitely have helped my husband visualize the red coat better. It’s just too hot - 95F today. I’m glad you think the red one fits okay. It feels great.

The grey wrinkles are problematic. Ooh, it sounds like I just described me!

I think you wear the red coat well! I don't think it is swamping you at all and it's super fun.

The wrinkles in the gray coat do bother me, but the shape is nice. I'd try leaving it as you would (hanging it up? over a chair back?) and see if it's going to be a continued problem.

Can you keep both, at least for a month or so when it gets cooler? I like the white one best but love the red on you too and suspect you will reach for it all winter

The gray one looks like a nice fit, too. It is more classic, not a statement. The wrinkles may hang out of it (or could be pressed out) and not be a problem after that. It probably wasn't steamed after shipping from the manufacturer and before they sent it out to you.

I love both on you. Red is fantastic for you! The wrinkles would be an issue for me if they don’t “hang out” quickly. Only because I know that my costs don’t always get hung up. They get tossed over chairs, in the backseat, etc. I want something that is going to look like it’s hung up and well cared for. Basically, I want my coat to lie for me!

Maybe your DH is like my DH who cannot imagine what something would look like when I try it on over the “wrong” pieces. I would go back and style the coat properly and then let DH reassess. I have learned that when I want an opinion from my DH, I need to wear the item exactly as I might use it including accessories.

Ditto to the remarks about styling making a difference to the hubs perception. My husband can not assess a potential occasion dress unless I have the correct shoes on. Gotta admit, the shorts throw me off too! I think the red is fantastic on you. The wrinkling might put me off of the grey too.

The red coat looks great and does not swamp you! You are the first I have seen to wear it well. Fabulous!

The grey coats looks as fab, but as you said - in a very different way. Safe and subtle.

Review your coat capsule and take it from there. Make sure you like the red coat in styled outfits.

I do really like the red coat. I laid the grey one on a chair overnight as Tammyb suggested, and it didn’t really look worse.

Angie, I’m so glad you saw the red coat. I had already ordered it when you mentioned the swamping issue, and only got to try it on yesterday.

As for “needing” these coats, no, I don’t need them. I have as many coats as the Eskimos have words for snow.
