Two Nordies down - puffy advice needed!!

Saga continues. Went to the two suburban Nordies my side of the bay on three hours sleep, lol. Slim slim pickings. And I have to say, I feel I had a version already of most of what was on offer throughout the store.

Ok. But this is the deal, I came home with a Bernardo and need advice!!! Here is the deal: I run cold. I prefer coats to jackets. The Bernardo I came home with is a jacket - but long in back. I really liked the colour is the thing. Better than the colours of the long coat.

My question is: Should I return it and rush to order the longer puffy?

3 - my current long Bernardo, in pretty good shape; my thing has been to keep one puffy nice and beat up an older one on dog walks and to the bakery
4 - this season's long coat in blue
5 - this season's other coat option, burgundy
6 - in search of more two piece dresses; this one definitely not made for a girl with sloping shoulders
7 - Lilypup hanging out of her carriage for a better view

I like the puffy-within-a- puffy look.
I guess it depends on what your needs are but I really like the burgundy one for you.
I find short puffers really useful--like you can wear them in the fall and spring, whereas the long one definitely reads "winter".
The grey is nice too but I just think the burgundy might be a nicer colour on you.

Ps: Your dog is so cute and thanks for the heads up on that dress--it is very unkind to sloped shoulders! (...which I have too.)

I'm not getting good colour in the photo... It's not really grey... but ok - a vote for the long coat!

Sorry I was confused because I thought the Burgundy was also a short puffer.
I think this warmer colour looks better than grey. I like the gold hardware on it and the burgundy interior too.

I don't think you need to run back for anything

I agree, the color of the jacket is excellent. I think the blue coat might look okay on you. Although, it's just a guess. I kind of like the style, although it would be most helpful to see you wearing it. I wish Farley could help with shopping. With my luck he would develop a taste for silk blouses or something, and then I'ld really be in trouble!

On a side note I am sorry about the 2 piece dress shoulders, because otherwise it looks smashing on you. Your shoulders do not look sloping in the photo -- it's as if the top is too long for your torso, it seems to me.

So, the jacket. I like the colour on you. It's really down to whether this one will be warm enough for you. I think Smittie makes a good point about seasonality -- but it depends what you want to wear it with, no? What will work with this length puffer.

Apart from warmth, a jacket has a different, more casual vibe than a coat IMHO. I like the gray, maybe because I have a Bernardo puffer vest from a couple of years back. But for more of a coat, I prefer the blue for you.

I'm having a hard time visualizing which colour would flatter you most, but it's a great score on the jacket/coat. I don't find puffers to be warm and use my down-filled Patagonia one for running in cold weather, or for cool, rainy weather. Otherwise, it's too cold for leisurely walking. Sounds like your designated beat-up jacket serves that purpose?

I really like that dress on you and am puzzled as to how it could produce that kind of shoulder gap. Seems like there's something off in the cut, rather than your shoulders. Too bad, it fits really well otherwise.

Ok. Angie has spoken! I think I'm gonna order the blue coat (cross fingers, it's still available). I really love the colour of the jacket, but I AM afraid I'll be cold because of the shortness. And because I've had this preference for longer coats - well, I wouldn't have to do any thinking about styling.

Can I return to Nordstrom rack, you think? A new one opened close by...

Given that you like the color of the jacket, you might keep it. I wouldn't order a longer coat in a color you're not excited about. The jacket is at least a long jacket (i.e., covers the butt), so I think it will have some warmth. The two coats you show do not look as long as your current coat, so they might not be as warm as you're wanting in a coat, anyway.

Too bad the two-piece dress didn't work. Looks like it is cut for the reverse of sloping shoulders, or someone who is perpetually shrugging.

You look great in your shopping outfit, and so does Lilypup, in her shopping carriage!

Gradfashionista - I learned about proper layering here on YLF. Wool and thermal layers and so forth. Because totally - just throwing a puffer over my thin little California clothes...laughable! Lol.

Firecracker - Maybe I'll hang on to the short coat, but I'm not sure colour will be enough to make me wear it (my greatest fear). I've had blue and burgundy in past years, which may be a reason I'm not that excited about them. The blue did take me a lot of places
tho...

Yes, the Rack should work for Nordstrom returns. Here, they follow the Rack's 3 month return limit for Nordstrom purchases, too.

I think the blue will be lovely and to me that puffer is reasonably long. It certainly covers the lower back area which can be chilly... I hope it works for you

I return to the Rack all the time. I think the sales associates cringe when they see me coming in!

By the way, I asked what they do with returns, and they told me they return them to the main store for restocking. They don't sell them in their store.

I ordered the Laundry and then the North Face later, and Nordstrom emailed me this. (The North Face should be delivered today.) The Laundry one fits great but the zipper continues up around the front edge of the hood.

I like the first one on you. I prefer the shorter length although I appreciate that it's not as practical. I like the blue one Angie suggested too. Lilypup is adorable!

I saw that, Firecracker. Was thinking about it. But I may want an even longer one for my long long puffy. Sorta depends. May suck it up and pay full price when winter stuff comes out.

I likd the jacket and that it's longer and not like a ski jacket. But you mah just need the coat length.
