It feels like I've been doing a lot of online shopping and returning this month. Since we've been discussing higher shaft booties, I thought I'd review two that I plan to send back.

These grey Sam Edelman booties come in a few good colors, also including a lovely dark red. The quality of the suede on these was good, and there is some interesting texture carved into them. The heel is a bit too high for me (I have an arthritic toe that hurts if I push it too hard). I also was not thrilled about the fit across the upper front of the foot and lower ankle; there was a lot of extra space there.

The dark floral Spring Steps were an Angie pick. I love dark floral everything. They are very comfortable. However, between the round toe and the laces, I think they look a bit too sweet. If only the toe were more pointed.

I took a couple of photos below. The black outfit is what I'm actually wearing today (not my usual thing and in fact this AllSaints dress is about six years old but I'm really trying to do dresses this fall). The other one is my crop flare jeans, since that's the reason I was interested in high shaft booties to begin with -- ankle coverage for colder weather. Not a great outfit here (and I have a tank and heavy leggings still on underneath which added to bulk) but I was aiming for proportions more than flattery per se. The jeans don't look very flared over the bootie, either, which I would have preferred.
