Two dresses - yay or nay

Hi!
Please advise me if these dresses suit me. I showed my friend a brown one and she said that she made me older (but I'm not 20 or 36 years old...) and made me bold. I am round in the abdomen-thigh area.
I didn't show the jeans one, but it seems to me that she thickens my legs very much. What do you think?

I like #2 -- the color and shape are lovely on you. #1 does look a little more dated, but #2 is timeless.

i like them both. #1 is more conservation, more work or worship, maybe that's what your friend meant. #2 could be dressed up for work or change it up to sneakers and its a great dress for weekends.

The blue dress is pretty on you. It would look good with lighter colored shoes like some white sneakers or tan booties or sandals. If you feel it is not flattering to your legs, try a slightly higher heel.

#2 is gorgeous. Great neckline and silhouette on you. I think #1 is traditionally flattering and could see that for work. I think both are great depending on what you want them for.

More love for blue dress - great shape. Play with different shoes to find the fun combo ( espadrilles, booties..).

You can wear both. The blue could be a little shorter, right at knee length, and you might like it better. It may show the curve of your calf.

# 2 is very flattering on you. The shade of blue is wonderful with your skintone and haircolor. The neckline is great too. The black shoes draw the eye downward so lighter colored or metallic footwear might work better with the dress. I agree with Joy's comment about shortening the length of the dress a bit. I know dresses that bisect the widest part of my calf aren't the best look for me.

#1 tricks my eye a bit, below the waist line seam - because of the wavy pattern of the fabric and how the pattern is cut off at the waist, it appears to bulge a bit because of those wavy lines. That is the one area I'd say isn't as flattering as it could be, and I'd pass on it for that small but unchangeable factor.

I love #2 - you could do a lot with it! I agree with the others that it's a keeper.

I'm with the others who agree #2 is stunning on you, and, to my eye, it doesn't thicken your legs at all. The first one seems to fit and it is perfectly nice, but it doesn't bring you to life the way the blue one does. (I may be adding my own bias here because I am very uncomfortable having patterns on certain areas I feel self-conscious about.)

I like them both but the blue takes the cake for me - your body language looks more relaxed in it, & it seems like the more versatile piece out of the two (based on what you've said about yourself). I may be biased because of my affinity for colour, though

I think both are great, nr 1 is more conventional like for work or somewhere you don't mind to show a bit more authoritive, nr 2 is more feminine of course but think both are ageless and you can always accessorize edgier or artsyer it's all upon your heart.

I left the denim dress, and returned the brown one. As Rachylou wrote, it shortens my torso, which I didn't see before.
