Tweaking the work outfit - YouLookFab Forum

After the great suggestions I got yesterday, I have come up with what I think is a more successful to go work/business casual outfit. I wore it to work all day and felt very comfortable.

The jeans are actually a size down from the ones in the my other post but seem looser in the photo. They are a good fit though. They are straight while the other ones were skinny jeans.

The jacket is different from the one I was wearing the other day but the same size. I found it at the back of my wardrobe and like it because it is low and open in the front. I have tried folding /scrunching the sleeves.

The shirt is too long so I semi tucked it to make it the length shown in the photos. Normally I would wear long with leggings.

I think I need more shirts/t-shirts that are V-necked and about this length and I can accessorise with different necklaces and shoes etc. I think this way my top area is minimized. What do you think? Feedback appreciated.

oh wow. you look great! I think you are exactly right about the blazer, how it's open in the front and I like how it shows off the pattern on your blouse.. Note to self: find a one button blazer!

Wow this is great! Honestly it is so slimming on you, whereas yesterday's floral top seemed to add bulk...even though it was made of a lighter-weight fabric. Well done, you look really sharp in this outfit. And the colors look fantastic -- these strong blues such as this blouse and the striped one yesterday are very complementary to your coloring. And the print is much more current than the floral.

Thanks BrieN - The jacket is actually got 2 buttons but I left the top button undone. It is definitely lower cut in the front though so I'll be on the look out for that styling in the future.

Thanks Sheila- the blouse is crème and grey but I like the low v neck and it is more fitting around the shoulders. Thanks for that great suggestion about teeney bop shops...I have gone there for leggings and believe they probably do good t-shirts at a reasonable price. I could probably get a few in different colours as long as I find a good fit.

I agree with Sheila. This looks sharp. The jacket and shirt are very flattering. I can't quite see what you have done with the hem of the shirt but I think the length is good. I would shop for shirts that length. Maybe with a rounded hem would be even better. I like the way you are wearing it open too.

I have to agree with all the comments above, this outfit looks great and because it has more structure and fits you well, it is flattering. I would also like your striped top under this blazer for work.

Oh if I don't say so myself, this is fab! I think structure is the right word - Angie's word - the pushed up sleeves and v-neck provide 'structure' by revealing a little skin and bone. Things look quite fitted and smart! I also think the semi tuck is very wise - without it, I'm thinking the shirt would just look untucked...too much strong horizontals.

Thanks Brooklyn, Bijou and Rachylou, I'm going to wear this look until I get sick of it. I'm on the hunt for new tee shirts now and perhaps another jacket.

So great, and you nailed the work-casual vibe. I like your idea of more shirts/tunics in this length. I've also recently discovered that the lightweight ones semi-tuck beautifully, giving me the option to wear them long with leggings or tucked into jeans. I agree with Rachy on the structure that tucking, rolling and pushing up provide! YLF Sally.
