I'm rather warming to the idea of these. Am i on the right track with this?

Do they only work for smart, dressy outfits or will they work dressed down? x

Edit- by definition are they just a dressy jacket or should they be cropped etc?

A longer dinner jacket style rather than a cropped style. I have seen others that have a double set of buttons at the bottom of the jacket as well.

I don't profess to know anything about this, but my understanding of a tuxedo jackets is that the lapel is sort of shiny or satiny. Yours has sequins which is basically the same idea with a different effect.

Doesn't necessarily have to be that long. Other than that, I just don't know what makes it different from a regular blazer. Maybe Angie will fill us in.

I should point out that my ideal jacket is the equivalent price of attending the YLF event! Something to lust over, rather than something I can actually afford!

All of them are gorgeous. I probably won't be getting one because they look very dressy.

I would love to see some examples from Angie though and I have a feeling she might have something up her sleeve.

*chuckle* Fiona. Aren't designer items ridiculously priced. I'd much rather you buy a fab tuxedo jacket from Zara and see us at the 2011 Worldwide YLF convention.

Louise, tuxedo jackets needn't be cropped. (Well explained, Maya). You're after tuxedo detailing which is usually a satin lapel, covered satin buttons and probably a bit of satin binding on welt pockets. You're also looking for the jacket in an overall formal looking fabrication - no knits. They can be short, hip length or longer. Does that answer your question?

I want a hip length blazer with perfect satin lapels. Still looking :0(

Yup thanks Angie I'm guessing then that the one i linked to doesn't fit the bill as it's a polyester mix? I might order it and give it a go it can always be returned i might get more wear from it than a true tux jacket x

I think that what you've linked to works from a fabric point of view Louise, but they might be a little too cropped. But try!

Sorry i meant the top link with the sequin collar; but i've talked myself out of it i think the sequins will get caught in my hair!! Also a bit undecided whether i'll get the use out of it if i can only wear it smart x
