Tuxedo jacket - how would a casual gal wear it?

I have been thinking of getting a cropped tuxedo jacket ever since Una posted the link to this one http://www.bluefly.com/Walter-.....detail.fly
But I am torn between whether this is yet another 'tickles my fancy' type of purchase rather than a "what I'm found wearing on any Tuesday afternoon" purchase. How would/do casual gals wear such a coat besides over a tank with jeans? I have that base pretty much covered already Thanks for enlightening me. I don't want to buy what could turn into yet another Saturday Night only look. Oh, and pics would be very helpful if any of you have some great cas' looks with one of these!

Here are some pics of me wearing mine casually. This is the one from Target, which Kim has also just bought. Did you see the pics she posted? I wear mine much like I would wear a denim or moto jacket- ie over anything and everything. I've found it a versatile piece for my casual lifestyle.

Thank you for visual aide - very helpful! I can buy it and then (new lightbulb in action) I can just return it if it doesn't work out. Perhaps it's just the type of thing I need to step up my casual wardrobe, which is my major focus right now.

Mo (or do you want us to call you Malina?), I'm hoping to wear mine like a cropped cardi, over t-shirts and with casual pants, as well as dressier tunics. If you don't layer all the time, you may not use it as much, but I think it's worth trying. I got the one I did because it gave me free shipping on my order (try to figure out the logic there!), and I'm hoping to experiment with it more before making a final call.

I plan to wear mine as Khris does.. with anything and everything. I also have my black military jacket so I have a "variety" in my black jacket collection... LOL

Thanks, guys. I'm still undecided. I have to factor in the lack of layering possibilties here 10 or more months out of the year. I have 5 blazers, and now that many cardis as well to get me through. I just don't know if this would be a welcome new spice to my outfits or a 10 month orphan that only comes out to play 3 times over winter. And to be honest, I'm a little gun shy now that 75% of what I ordered online last week has to go back . . . decisions, decisions. I do appreciate the suggestions on how to wear it, though I only have one black jacket here and it's more a safari/military type look.

I went ahead and ordered it. I can think of at least 3 bottoms (besides jeans) that I can pair it with - 2 black skirts and my red velvet pants. They may be more dressy looks, but I feel better knowing I at least have those options to fall back on if I can't figure out how to make it work in a more casual way. Guess I'll soon find out!!
