Just love that skirt on you every time I see you wear it! Styling is everything and I think you are on the money with the fact that gamine you needs juxtaposition, whereas a romantic might just need glam? Not sure but am sure you look fabulous!

Jaime, thank you! And Happy Hannukah!

You look so lovely! This skirt was made for you, Suz!

On fire Suz!

I feel it helps to be rather dramatic when it comes to the wearing of tulle…

Just my way of fantasy Xmass outfit-and soooo so fab!!! (My never worn tulle:-) is an dark olive with velvety burned out/or on(?) small florals..perhaps could come out to the light during these holidays...but I always chicken out when IRL :-().

YLF, @Suz - between the shiny jewellery, makeup, textures & colours, you're positively glowing!

But I have to agree with @Carla, that the portrait/ ballet (not jewel, right?) neckline is the star of the show for me! I commiserate with how difficult it is to find this style these days though - I found a similar black top with faux feathers framing the neckline, but it was off the shoulders (a pain for bras!)

Zaeobi, this one is a bit of a pain with a bra, too...it's not really off the shoulder, but because of the tie in front it tends to pull in weird ways and my bra straps do tend to show. Sometimes I can get it organized "just so" but others times...not so much. Since it's a thrifted top that I wear about once a year, that's ok -- it's really special occasion wear. But I would love a top with a neckline like this that I could wear more comfortably for every day.

Lyn, that skirt sounds amazing for you! Wear it for a dress up night at home -- that will give you courage.

Rachy, Irina -- thank you!

This thread has had me thinking . The comments regarding who and what “type” can wear tulle opened my closed little mind to why some things just feel wrong . Things that I usually blame on my body type / weight and never dive deeper than that . I blame my weight issues for everything I think I can’t wear , when in fact it’s more of a style personality mismatch . Tulle is too dainty or too pretty for me , or in the case of an edgy plaid tulle like this skirt - too statement making . It suits you because of the gamine juxtaposition mentioned by someone above . Thanks for letting me work through this , lol.

new style moniker for Suz:

Graceful Gamine

Aww, thanks, Angie.

LisaP, yes!! This is why so many people go down that Kibbe rabbit hole, LOL. Because (if interpreted the way I think he intended, though the man is so obscure he might as well write in another language...) he really isn't saying one body or beauty type should be preferred or here's how to dress to disguise your flaws...he's saying, look -- there are a bunch of different style essences, if you will. He emphasizes line over other style elements, but it's a useful corrective to some other systems -- and the idea is to harmonize your clothing with your "line." (Admittedly, it's a bit hard to tell what he means by that, but...)

I think I'll start a new thread about this...

This outfit looks fantastic on you in every photo. Thanks for your explanation of Kibbe, and I think I have Gamine tendencies, too.

What a gorgeous neckline on you, Suz, and that scarf is beautiful. The whole outfit is picture perfect.

I love this skirt on you so much!

Ah I know the neckline issue of which you speak very well - especially when teaching, where an otherwise fine neckline makes you afraid to bend over lol! Have you considered a double magnet or brooch pin to hold it in place?

Zaeobi, that is brilliant! Thanks for the idea!

And thanks all for the kind words.
