I kept mine, some are VC, some other brands, and still wear them from time to time. I actually gave them a mini revival and wore them a lot in summer 2021, I think I posted a bunch of outfits. I don't think I will ever get rid of them until they are worn out because I really like them, regardless of what is trending. Plus, with the '90s revival, column skirts and dresses are trending, and I can see tube skirts working as a subtype of column.
Funny thing, I never noticed the hem was unfinished! I have just checked mine, and all but one (the striped one) have finished hems, which would explain why. I would find a trusted tailor and check with them. I recently bought a dress from an unusual knit material that needs taking in at the waist and was unsure on how feasible it is, but the tailor said no problem.
