Tube skirt throwdown: Round 2

After we determined that the lace print VC skirt in large (photo 1) was not tapered enough and possibly too big, Rae suggested I try the VC in petite (which runs smaller than regular) as well as the Leith, which is much more tapered. I ordered both in solid grey, since I suspect the lace print was doing me no favors either, and here they are. I styled them exactly the same as I did the lace print skirt (so please forgive the shoes, which I know are not ideal with these skirts) so we could do a direct comparison.

#1: VC lace print in L
#2: VC grey in PL
#3: Leith in L
#4: Leith with the hem folded up a couple of inches.
#5: All three skirts lying on top of each other to compare length/width. They are lined up at the left side.

Both of the new skirts are more fitted and more tapered. Whomever told me about the different fabrics hanging differently on the lace vs. solid/stripes was absolutely right. The petite VC is much shorter, and the Leith is longer than the regular VC.

Questions:
--Length. Which length do you prefer? Regular VC (#1), shorter (#2), or longer (#3)? The petite just barely covers my knees, and if it rides up even the tiniest bit my knees will show.
--Tightness. The Leith is definitely the tightest. I think it's too tight for my psychological comfort. The VC regular is too loose. I think the VC petite is just about right, but if I want a longer length I will have to hope that the regular medium fits the same.
--Color/pattern. After seeing everyone in stripes, I kind of want the bold stripe too. But should I keep one of the grey ones too?

I definitely have an opinion here, but I will keep it to myself until I hear what you guys think.

I definitely like the VC petite the best. I think the length looks better on you (so if you end up getting a regular length, it may be a good idea to fold it up a bit), while the Leith looks almost too tapered to me.

Diana, I think I was the one to mention the different fabrications in the different patterns. Glad you agree.

My eye sees what Makrame sees. The VC in petite looks much better than the Leith, which is both a little too narrow and too long. Perhaps it's just the photo, but the Leith also seems to pull in the hips/upper thighs a little bit? Given its length and tapering, it might be rather difficult to walk in.

In short, I like the VC in petite out of the three skirts shown. You might also consider another VC skirt in regular, if you are keen on the true midi length of it.

I like the VC petite better than the Leith one. Do you hae a regular VC not sized up to compare also?

Oh, this is interesting. I agree that of these three, the VC petite fits best. But I actually think it's too short, especially if I decide to wear a longer top with it. ETA: Angie said that Ramya's was too short, although I think hers was above the knee. But the petite kind of looks like hers did in overall silhouette.

What I want to do is get the stripe in a regular medium, but of course that is a size combination I haven't yet tried. I feel like Goldilocks. Too short, too long, too tight, too loose....

I prefer the fit and length of #1. If it's a little loose, you can always have it taken in.

I want you to try the VC in regular medium. That is going to be the sweet spot!!

I was going to say, um, Diana, I still like the first one best but maybe just size down and see. Given you don't want to emphasise any pear proportions, the Leith seems the wrong fabrication. And the VC petite is pretty but not quite on trend with the length. I vastly prefer the VC midi length for debombshelling the whole yet being subtly sensuous when you want.

Should you keep a grey? You have said in the past that you don't have many true plains and so maybe you should. But I wonder if you wouldn't find a false plain (do they have a subtler stripe or check?) more interesting and just as useful...

I like the lace one that has been rejected (?) and the length in #4 (turned up Leith?). It is just a bit longer than #2 I think. #3 is too long.

Well....... I also like the fit of the lace skirt best - #1. The pattern and fabric are off - but the fit is fab. You need that size in the stripe or the grey (fabric is different and better than the lace). OR, try the VC in a regular Medium - but not in the lace because the fabric is different.

I quite like #2 too. Still knee-cap covering, which is the point. It's much longer than Ramya's skirt.

Return the Leiths.

I vote #2. It's the most flattering length and shape of all IMHO. #1 isn't working somehow....it's the lace print, I think (like you've already noted) and #3 tapers in too much to be flattering.

I vote you try VC in stripes! Try regular M and L both to see which one fits better. I got L so M maybe the right size for you.

So what you guys can't see is that the regular L is gaping at the waist. It's not a huge deal as I don't plan to tuck but the PL, which fits better at the waist, sits nicer under the tops.

I really want the big stripes because everyone looks so fab in them. Just ordered the regular medium from the lord and taylor sale (L is sold out, so are all the petites).

I think I am going to send all of these back. May reconsider a solid VC in either petite or regular later on. I don't think I can justify buying two of them when I don't even know how often I'll wear one.

So the Leith is basically truly a tube. No shaping at all. The VC is cut with some more room for hips.
