Trying to relax with a game of Boot

Some of you have seen my post about me stressing over a missed conversation today. I am keeping my mind off of it with an unnecessarily elaborate comparison of two boots! Yes, boots ARE my answer to everything; why do you ask?

I got another round of flat boots in, and I like both of them better than the previous ones I've tried. The ones on the right are both the same boot, but it came with two colors of laces - I prefer the brown laces by far.

Can you guess which ones actually passed DH's filter?

Which ones do you like best? Anything worth keeping?

I have a favorite, but it's no fun if I tell you in advance.

ETA: If you have small calves and ankles, you might give these boots a try!

Winners: Frye Jenna Cap Toe Lace-Up (holy cow, but those shot WAY back up in price!) - Circumference is 13" when laces are fully tightened. Ankles hug my 9"-ers with room to tighten even further.

Runners-UP: Timberland Lexiss - Top circumference is about 14" when the cinch is fully tightened - BUT the strap does allow for extra holes to be added, which means it can be snug on a smaller calf as well. This boot had the best fit on my 9" ankles of any of the non-laced boots I tried.

Both pairs look great on you!! I have a slight preference to the added detail of the laces =)

The pair on the left in your pairs of pictures are definitely the ones you should keep. As much as I like lace-ups, the ones on the right, no matter which colour laces, just aren't doing it for you. I vote keep the pair on the left, and keep looking for that just right flat lace up.

I think you like the ones on the right best. I can't make much of the detail but they look great and are definitely worth keeping.

I like both pairs, but I don't like the contrasting laces. I can't pick which boots I like the best, though. Both look good!

Ummm... I'm about to change my answer. The ones on the right look too tall in some pics but they will "recede" or scrunch down once the ankle breaks in...

Ah, I'm enjoying the answers! I love that you guys not only know me so well, but also have a good knowledge of DH's style preferences.

I have made a decision, but I'll keep it to myself for now.

I like the ones on the right -- I think they fit better and end at a more flattering height than the one on the left. Love the laces too, in both iterations!

I like the taller ones *sans the laces* best - the ones on YOUR RIGHT LEG.

I like the ones with the buckles better than the plainer pair --- more UWP, imo. Sleeker too, contrarily enough for the extra details of buckle and lace.

I know you prefer the darker (invisible almost) lacing, and that may well be because you see them in real life --- photos do lie at times! I'm rather liking the visible paler ones though.

I think I am slowly working through the flats mystery, Angie. I have high hopes that I can go several hours in these without arch pain, and we'll see about my usual pain in the front ankle area after I walk a good distance.

Do y'all know how long I've been wanting flat, knee-high boots? I think the obsession started around 2007! So I'm very glad these are getting some love.

Congrats to Zap, Cathy, Angie, Natalie, and Manidipa! The boots in the right-hand pictures are standing proudly in my closet and waiting for Friday. DH and I were both attracted to the sleek ankle curve and the fact that I'm able to taper the top of the boot shaft in toward my knee. I feel just as bada** in these as any of my heeled boots.
