Trying to decide: black or brown boots?

I'm thinking about buying my first pair of knee high boots. I'm more drawn to the cognac than the black, though The black is nice. Never having owned a pair, I'm still trying to imagine how they'll integrate into my wardrobe. Can I wear cognac with a black skirt? I know either would look good with jeans (if I find skinny jeans, different saga!). A lot of my dresses are black.....Advice?

Nice boots! I think the cognac is a neutral, and will go beautifully with many colours! I'd be able to tell better with a pic of you in the boots and your dress(es), but I think these will work fab with black!

Those are beautiful boots. What colors do you tend to wear? Cognac is sort of a neutral, but it can be more contrasty to my eye depending on what you're wearing it with.

I think the cognac will help bookend your hair color. tried those boots last year; they are very comfy.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. However, I think tall, black boots are kind of a wardrobe staple. That said, I now wear my cognac boots all the time.

Clearly the logical conclusion would be to get both! elpgal, I hadn't thought about the cognac bookends my hair, maybe that's why they're my favorite.

Well you've answered your own question here! Get your favorite, the cognac. You'll find they look great with black, denim, brown, camel, grey, burgundy...the list goes on.

I think you need both. I'm not a great fan of cognac with black. Boots in these 2 colors are great basics that will last you for years!

Either one would be fab and you'd get a ton of wear out of either color. With that being said, the cognac is my fav. You can wear cognac with everything and I love it with black.

I do love cognac color. And I own hunter green and burgundy boots. But there are times when you feel the need to do a black leg look . Black tights, black boots , very chic long vertical line. Either way, they are pretty.

Those are beautiful; I have seen them in the store. Either colour will be great, but if your heart beats for the cognac, go for it!

Agree with Angie - order and let's see! I have to say that I find black boots harder to style with my wardrobe than brown. Just my opinion

Gorgeous boots and both colours are absolutely fabulous in them.

I love cognac with black but I tend to like any kind of brown leather with black as a rule.

I think the real difference is that the black will be much more subtle with black pieces than the cognac.

Are your black dresses plain, printed, do they have any brown tones in them?
