Trying on some possible keepers (ETA styled cords and leopard close-up)

Update: I brought a *third* light in to get some slightly brighter shots today. Also dried my hair and moved the Kid Art so I could get straight-on shots instead of angled, lol). Here are the cords with tallish ankle boots -- full length (#6), pinned up 1 inch (#7), and with a small double roll (#5). As usual, I think I like the tomboy vibe of the rolled version best... In any case, I like the full-on seventies vibe of striped turtleneck and toffee cords!

I ordered a few things on Friday, trying to take advantage of sale prices to fill a couple of wardrobe holes. Apologies for bare feet and wet hair -- the mail came while I was in the shower, and I had just enough time to snap pics before I head out for the rest of the day!

1 -- Frank & Oak jeans (a Canadian company, but free shipping to the US as well). I wore through the knees of my only black jeans last week (sob!), so I'm trying to find a replacement pair. These fit fine, and are nicely made, but I'm not head-over-heels in love. I just can't get excited about raw hems on brand-new pants. I have another pair of black jeans OTW (the Madewell ones in the Find), but those are raw hem too. Waiting 'til the Madewells arrive before I return these.

2 -- A pair of corduroys from Frank & Oak. I really like these, and will probably keep. Saffron/mustard is not one of my usual colors, but will pair easily with black, charcoal, burgundy -- all of which I have lots of in my F/W wardrobe. Have been looking for a good pair of thick, non-stetchy cords for more than a year, and I think these fit the bill.

3/4 -- These are the leopard pants from Boden. I'm leaning towards keep (can try to get a photo of the print in better light -- my house is pretty dark this time of year!). They're a true ink blue, and the print is subtle. I like them. I've been meaning to add a pair of full-length non-denim trousers for a while; I have ankle tattoos, so as much as I love ankle pants, there are a handful of occasions for which I really need full length.

I also decided to try this cotton-cashmere sweater (jumper!), but it's going back. I love this color combo, but the fit is nothing special. I don't like the way the seam on the drop sleeve lies. The button side detail is cute, but too much fuss for something that doesn't look/feel great.

It is hard to get a sense of these, both because the photo is not shot straight on, and because of the light. (Light is my perennial problem, for the same reasons as you ... NH almost winter). The first two look a bit big on you, and maybe a bit short. I do like that yellow/brown color, though. The Boden pants look like a better fit.

The jeans seem too big in the lower thigh. I like the cords better -- their fit seems more uniformly, appropriately slouchy. (I do see what UmmLila means about the length -- though it could be the angle.)

Boden pants seem like solid keepers.

Agree with your assessment of the sweater. The fit just lacks elegance, somehow.

Oh, forgot to mention the cords are ankle length -- 28" inseam, but if I keep I'll probably take them up to 26 or 27. They're definitely not too big -- I'd almost prefer them a little looser? I don't like the way women's cords have become, largely, jeggings-fit, and I like that these are not.

What UmmLila said. And that sweater looks like it just does not fit you right...it's too long for a regular style and not long enough to be a tunic...and too much fabric in the front...

The Boden pants look good to me, and I was set to say eh on the cords until reading that you'd have them taken up which makes me like them a whole lot more Not sold on the first pair of jeans, I think the fit isn't quite right somewhere there. I actually like the sweater but if you don't and it's fussy then definitely onto the next!

I'm usually not a big fan of patterned pants for myself but I have a pair of black and blue subtle leopard jeans that I enjoy. Let us know how the cords work out if you keep them. I hope the Madewell black jeans work out well for you.

Oh, but I‘ve just realized looking at these pics : you have a waist.
I’m ok with the width of the mustard trousers, but they look quite low waisted and I’m wondering if a higher waist wouldn’t look better on this tiny waist of yours.
Boden trousers look good, they’re cotton, aren’t they, are they warm enough for your climate?
I agree the jeans and sweater/jumper are not a great cut.
