Trying new colors for spring?

To try to help us beat the winter blues, I thought I would start this thread. :^) Are any of you thinking of trying new colors or color combinations for spring that you have never worn before? Or maybe turning back to a color or color combination that you haven't worn in years?

As for me, I am hoping to try some coral and some citron, which I have never worn. The only citron I have in my closet is in a design on an intarsia sweater, so it doesn't really count as a current color. :^)

(Just to make that clear, I do not mean I will do the color combination coral and citron, but each is a new color I will be trying. Ha ha!)

I am already on the coral bandwagon and am looking forward to adding some blush to my wardrobe this Spring and Summer. I just purchased a couple of tops with citron in them. (I was greatly inspired by Angie's recent post.) I am intrigued by orchid and, if I can find a variation of the shade that works well with my skin tone, I would love to add some of that as well.

Well, I don't have any plans to but something trendy, but every spring I buy something bright pink to celebrate! It's something I was unintentionally doing every spring; once I realized, I decided to make it a tradition!

The color of the year, Pantone's Radiant Orchid, is one of my colors, so I'll definitely be wearing it. I bought a t-shirt in orchid this week. I look halfway decent in coral (as long as it's not neon or too orangey.) I am somewhat over coral since I own a lot of it. I like citron and might try it in some accessories. I saw some very cute gray suede sandals with tipping in citron.

This year I'm going to try more dusty colors. I always gravitate toward "clear medium tones" but this spring and summer I am going to try more "muted" and "soft".

I would love to try more colors, but I'm not seeing a ton of them in the stores right now that suit my deep winter coloring. I've seen quite a bit of black, white, navy, and grey, so I'm not at a loss for clothing just yet.

Liz, I am a Deep Autumn, so I know what you mean...spring is a tough time for us deep-colored folks! I feel like lighter colors, like pastels, are what suits spring, but I look terrible in those colors in general. I am hoping that coral looks OK on me...I think it depends whether it tends toward more orange or pink.

Radiant orchid isn't new to me, but if I find it, i will snap it up because it's a good colour for me! I also hope to wear a bit more blush and/ or pale pink, and maybe some pastel blue as well. It's fun looking forward to all that now....as I don my steel grey puffer and boots for another day....

I think I'm winter too (very pale skin, dark hair, dark eyes, skin has blue/pink undertones). I'm going to try the orchid/pale violet/lavender and maybe pale powder blue tones. I've worn lavender shades before and they've worked well but I don't actually have anything in that color now. I'm not seeing them in my favorite stores yet much either.

Definitely a version of orchid! Also, I'm really liking turquoise. Maybe some light blue if I can make that work. Always more pink...definitely not new for me but a long-time favorite. Maybe this year's will be coral-leaning.

I think I want to try blush. I'm still not convinced it will ever be a great color for me, but I am attracted to it nonetheless.

I always love the idea of new spring colors, but am another deep-colored type who finds them difficult to wear. Maybe I could do coral? I can at least try wearing a little more cream. That's something, right?

yes, rabbit, i will definitely snap up orchid if i find it. i can get away with some pinks and light yellows and blues too... if i can find them.

I am a deep winter so most of the pastels look bad on me. I have seen a lot of bright blue so I try to find something I like. That and ink and navy blue.

Aubergine, I did find something in orchid this fall that looked really good with my coloring. Maybe if you see some orchid you could try it out. I wonder if olive would look good on you as well?

Orchid may be worth a try! And I always forget about olive, but I like it on me if it's not too washed out. I have a mid-weight coat in olive, actually.

Definitely some version of the so called orchid. But that's a type of color I've always worn.
The new thing I may try is in the blue family. Sort of a medium denim but not in denim. Like the color that is sometimes seen as a tencil shirt. Mixing with black and gray and camel and white. I was never a blue person before, but as my hair color " cools" a bit I think there are a few such colors that would give a fresh look and a change from all the pinky colors.

I really think that any color you are wildly attracted to is YOUR color. Who cares if it is the most flattering on you or not. If you love it, if it gives you a joie de vivre, if it puts a spring in your step or shocks you with a jolt of joy, IT'S YOUR COLOR!!!! Do I hear an AMEN??

Great thread idea! I'm a deep autumn so I tend to wear warmer brights like red, bright orange, and yellow in summer. I have a tangerine handbag on order. You all have piqued my interest in coral, too. It's close enough to orange that it might work for me. I'm definitely planning to add more bright pink. I love pink. I have some inspiration pics of pink with blue, and there's a bubblegum pink handbag in my online shopping cart. My wildcard will likely be something in powder blue. I'm thinking an accessory is the way to go. I saw a pale blue snake clutch that I may exchange my fuchsia version for if it's still available.

I'll probably go for a paler more muted version myself.

Jewell, I like the idea of a bright pink. Although I'm not crazy about pinks in general, I found out in doing a color analysis in a book that I can wear a muted magenta color--kind of like a fuchsia but more purpley. Maybe I can find something like that. I have a top in workout gear that color but no "real" clothes in it.

Rabbit, you're right--that's like radiant orchid on steroids! :^) If that color had more red in it, I might give it a try.

I am most definitely not a pink girl, but Angie's "olive and pink" combination post made me open my eyes to pinks that I want to try.

I think I started rejecting pink when my hair had an auburn tint to it (I don't look good in warm pinks and cool pink looked wrong with my hair), but now I've gone back to my true dark brown and think some pinks can work.

I don't love wearing a lot of color so this feels like a big step. Pathetic, I know.

I've never worn mint and should have bought something in it last year but never found the right piece. There are quite a few colors that I've not worn for awhile that I'd like to try, especially shades of blue from pastel to ink in clear tones.

Comes spring and I too, always crave citron/lime green first-but I rarely find one item which talls my expectations(still on the hunt for an arty fluid cardigan in this color). Other than that I do have my corals/oranges, greys and creams for lightening up my winter wardrobe and transitioning to spring. Also have some chucky mint beads on a black cord which I love to pop on my all blacks in early spring.

I'm old enough that these are not new colors, but I am rediscovering a couple old favorites. I bought a lavender top (1), and found that it goes well with a few scarves that have green and purple in them. I remember how much I enjoyed wearing lavender with mint in the '80s, but that might be pastel overload these days. Inspired by the styling with colorful skinny belts on the GAP models (2) I also got a skinny magenta belt (3) (and I think these are the same skinny belts rebranded for JCP or the GAP). I wore this out of the store.

At JCP I found a citron sweater (4) and belt (5). This allows me to stop sneaking in bits of citron in accessories and admit my love for this neon-y shade. My duhh moment: wear more than one item in a color mix -- a topper and an accessory -- to make it look intentional.

In this winter that will not end, I am especially appreciative of Angie's encouragement to add some color!

Pastel blue. I started crushing on teal last fall and the love is still going strong so maybe something for summer.

Pink is definitely on my list. Another color I'm looking for in a handbag is a sort of light tan or camel. What I want is a handbag the color of my hair, but I don't know exactly what to call it. It doesn't have to be an exact match, but it should have silver-toned hardware. I looked for this last spring and didn't find it, but I'm going to try harder now.
