I'm really interested in the JFE approach particularly as I've always focussed on dressing how I think best flatters my shape. It's just too restrictive though and I think it's holding me back from experimenting and putting together some great outfits.

Today I'm wearing something that I would never normally choose. It's loose and boxy, not really flattering on my shape, but not really ugly either. It feels JFE. I'm surprsied! I really like it and I think this could be one of my new basics. It will look good with pants, jeans, fuller skirts and with long sleeved tops under.

Baby steps.

I think it's better than JFE! I think the architectural shape of this, with the blocking and "stiff" fabric, works well for you. I think the combination with the pencil skirt really helps - fuller skirts may not work so well.

Let's see it with other bottoms!

Oh yes! That's a lovely top. But you're right, can be a bit hard to wear. The challenge is balancing the proportions. I think you're right that it will look great with fuller skirts. I'd also try it with a straight midi or a tube skirt. Maybe even loose fitting draped pants, like the girls are wearing in Tokyo at the moment.

I really like the idea of a straight midi or tube skirt, approprio. I'm going to try it with my lantern skirt as well. Interesting pants!

Love the structure and placement of the graphic print. When you wear a piece like this, people will see the garment and know that the line it's creating isn't "you." In other words, some garments make the body beneath seem like it's larger, while others clearly form a line on top of the body.

The way you've styled it completely works --- a simple line in the skirt, so the top shines. Like, Approprio, I think this would also work with a midi, a full skirt, or flowing pants.

I'm thoroughly enjoying watching you explore your new direction!

It's given me the confidence to move outside my comfort zone with what I think is flattering, which I think I need to do to get where I want to be.

Very cool top! I like the exaggerated, architectural shape; it has a wonderful origami feel to it. Looks in line with where you want to be heading both in terms of shape and in color.

It does look great with the skirt.

One caution, which you may already have done. Try it with the other proposed ways of wearing it--all the bottoms you might consider, any layering--before making "the cut".

That is, if you already have target items to combine it with. If you like it enough to build capsules around it, that's okay too, it's just different.

I say this because one of my goals is to be sure I know in advance if an item I'm adding actually does work the way I think it will, and to decide if it's versatile enough. Enough is the key word, okay to just have eyes open if something is limited, but still great with the one or 2 ways I'll wear it. Tops that go with both skirts and pants are hard for me to find and shorter tops are the hardest, but that's a body-type issue.

When I bought it, I was wearing slim black pants and it looked great. I think it looks good with the pencil skirt. I also have another pencil skirt, exactly the same cut, with a dramatic floral placement print on a black background. I think it will look good with that too (although I haven't had a chance to try it yet). I'm also hoping it will go well with a longer pencil skirt.

This looks fantastic. I also could see it with a more voluminous skirt, or a slouchy harem pant. A midi length skirt would create beautiful proportions too.

It is a great top. Although I like this, my first thought would be a longer straight or tube skirt!

Sass and Bide have some great things at the moment and quite a few are on sale, which is a bonus.
