Trying dresses over jeans

I don't think I would have tried this before finding YLF and Angie. But I'm in. Here's what I came up with from my closet. #2 is a thrifted dress I wear with leggings and boots in the fall. #3 I'm not sure about as the dress is not so flowy. I wore #4 to the kids' birthday party at a jumpy-house place, and it was perfect- quite compatible with jumping! Suggestions or comments? Thanks!

Great collection of dresses. And they all look so comfortable.

Personally, I wouldn't wear them as dresses (without jeans/pants), as they would be too short. But this is a great way to wear them. You look fab!

I like 2 because it looks very intentional. It has a kind of boho vibe that suits you.

Another vote for #2 as a favorite. Good for you for trying. I am tempted myself but I have so few dresses.

I like 2, looks most like it was meant to go together. Then 4, the similar colours look intentional also. Then 3. Least fave is 1 as the dress is so pretty and summery it cries out to be worn alone, to me. And it wouldn't be too short at all alone.

Thanks all! The cat, #2 is indeed too short for me to wear alone. The others are ok to me, through #4 is borderline too short depending on my mood.

Jenni nz, I wore #1 exactly like this but without the jeans, last week when the weather warmed up (didn't get a photo though). It was summery, and very comfortable. I think this dress may become a summer workhorse.

Thanks for showing your dress-over-pant trials here. My favorite is 3. I wonder about removing the belt on the dress, too, for a different look that strikes me as even more fashion forward. I love the dresses in 1 and 4, but I might prefer them with white jeans. 2 is a great look and seems the easiest to wear.

Brilliant, Angie, thanks! I tried it and I think the #4 dress might work better with the cropped #3 jeans.

Firecracker, I will try that too, thanks for the ideas. I've worn the red dress with a variety of belts, so will experiment more. Without a belt it doesn't quite look right on its own (it's a quick homemade dress from a shirt pattern, so it's pretty sack-like), but maybe with the jeans it will work. I have yet to brave white jeans.

The second try you posted is by far my favorite! I like how you pulled the blue from the tieks up to your face with the necklace. Looks so cohesive! #2 is a runner up fave as well

Love the colour of the dress in #1. And think that wearing it over WHITE jeans would make it look less heavy.

I love #2 and your new version with Angie's suggestion of #4. I agree that the pretty factor of #3 throws my eye with the pants and wonder if a pair of heels would change that? Thanks for posting the visuals of several options is great.
