Trunk Club anyone?

Has anyone tried Trunk Club? I've looked at Stitch Fix and the bento box one but neither seemed quite right for my style or needs. I love some of the looks that they show on Trunk Club- current and a bit trendy but pieces that seem to have staying power too- but they definitely favor pricier pieces.

I chatted with my stylist last evening and she asked some good questions to help determine my needs and preferences. She will then put together a trunk for me to review; I think it's 10 pieces. They recently added a $25 fee for try on but they do apply it to a purchase. (Non-refundable if you don't keep anything.) Once received, you have 5 days to try things on and decide. I decided to go ahead and try it so I am anxious to see what she picks.

I have used this service several times with mixed results. It's owned by Nordstrom so as you might expect, the level of customer service is outstanding. They let you preview the clothes before they ship, which is a huge improvement over Stitch Fix, which I tried several years ago.

That said, I don't know how long I will continue with Trunk Club for several reasons, primarily due to the new $25 try-on fee. Yes, I know they rebate it back to you if you purchase, but I know I will feel extra pressure to buy something just to avoid losing that $25.

I don't know your clothes budget of course, but for me, the items are pretty high-priced. They focus on brands like Paige, Frame, Rag and Bone, Theory, Vince, etc. They are very nice clothes but my pocketbook just doesn't allow for that many splurges!

Shannon, I didn't know the connection to Nordstrom; that's interesting. I'm glad to hear they have the same level of customer service. I do have a mix of price points in my closet but I certainly won't be buying a trunkful of high price items!

It sounds fun and being presented by Nordstrom it should be a safe way to preview and purchase clothing. If you try it, please let us know about your experience.

By very strange coincidence, just today I had an unusual situation crop up with Trunk Club. The way the service works is that the stylist emails you the items she's selected and then you have 48 hours to say yes or no to each piece. So last week I okayed 6 pieces but when the trunk arrived, it only had 3 of the items. No explanation, no note, nothing.

I contacted the stylist only to find out that all of a sudden, the items I chose were no longer available. It's a little weird since I can go on the Nordstrom website and see for myself that my sizes are there. I may just order them straight from Nordstrom.

This may just be an aberration of course but I'm not very happy about it!

Shannon, thanks for chiming back in. You've made me think more about this and I realized that I do not need a service like this. My guess is that it would probably encourage me to either keep something that wasn't quite right and/or encourage me to spend more than I otherwise would have.

I have pretty defined preferences for my style and no one knows me better than I do...I am well past the point of building a wardrobe so I don't need much...I don't always love shopping but for the most part I do enjoy it...and the biggest reason that I don't need a stylist service is because I have Angie and YLF!!!!

Bumping this old thread to see if another Fabbers have tried this service. Do they send only Nordstrom clothing (in which case, no thank you) or does it include other options as well.
