Trousers for Pears

Might try the trousers trend. Anyone have any suggestions? Parameters:

- Slouchy fine, flat front fine.
- Prefer straight leg or tapered, not wide leg.
- A subtle pattern would be fine and a solid color would be fine. Just not solid black, please.

I had to repeat it. Oh, those words are music to my ears...an echo to my own.

AND so darn difficult to remember when in the store facing a sea of black trousers!

Not sure on the most recent iterations, but the Express Editors were great for pear shapes.

Mo, are the Express editors straight legs? I thought they had a fairly wide leg opening.

I would have also said head straight to Express for Editors but you don't want a wide leg. The Columnist is much straighter, but not as good for pretty pears - but you never know. Try them.

Head over to the Classiques Entier label in Nordies and try on their trousers.

Try Vince Camuto and Ann Taylor too.

I have no seasonal specifics at the moment, Laura. But those are the trouser brands that work best for my pretty pear clients.

Yes, they were wide leg but now there are crop and jacquard and all kinds. http://www.express.com/jacquar...../index.pro Not sure if the hip fit is the same, though. Maybe Angie knows?

I am a fan of Jones New York trousers. I recently found a great pair of grey pinstripes at their outlet store.

I second the Columnists. They are a straighter, slimmer cut. They even have a "skinny" version, but I haven't tried those particular ones out myself.

Also, try the Halogen Taylor fit at Nordstrom. Those are similar to the Editors but not as wide legged.

Have had some luck with Ann Taylor curvy fit and Eddie Bauer Blakely fit. AT intermittently has tweedy fabrics and also grays, greige, browns. EB stores tend to stock only their casual pants but on- line has their tropical wools. Last year found wool tweed in store and bought for below- freezing winter office wear. I still have to get waists altered.
