Why are my trousers (machine wash, and dry clean) always easier to fit that jeans?

I'm a 6 foot pear...so excluding length issues, I still have trouble getting them to fit my thighs. I run into this a lot less with trousers. Is it just that the fabric is more forgiving? or are they made roomier?
