I was intrigued by these two pairs of Topshop boots after they were linked by Angie and April, so I decided to order them. I'm feeling very, very particular these days and have actually returned some purchases from a month or more ago that have not been worn that I was having second thoughts about. So the bar is high for any new purchases. They have to add something to my closet that is not already there, yet still make multiple interesting outfits that fit my style persona.

The bronze booties are really nice. True to the stock photo color, which I like since they fall in that coppery/bronze/rose gold palette that I like as an accent to all my blues and greens. The color picks up the warm accent colors in some of my patterned tops, and even pulls out the brown tones in leopard print. That's nice because I have a leopard clutch, and a shirt I just rescued from the donation pile since the print is trending again.

They are comfortable right out of the box and fit well, even though they are an 8.5 and I normally wear an 8. The high shaft fits nicely at the ankle too. I can see wearing them as I have them here -- with rolled or cropped jeans -- but also peeking out of flares or even with skirts or dresses.

The studded black boots look really cool, but they are stiff. The left one hurt the top of my foot so those are a no-go. I think I broke a bone in that foot a few years ago when I dropped a drawer on it, and it lets me know ever since when I wear shoes that are too stiff in that area -- that foot is slightly larger than my right foot too. Sizing up is not an option since the next size up is a full size larger and it would definitely be too big. But they are a fun look for someone who wants a touch of hard edge.

I am thinking of keeping the bronze ones; definitely returning the studded ones. What do you think?
