Trialling a blazer/ proportions

One of my new aspirations is to find more ease in my clothes. Even though the skinny jeans / slim pants seem to suit me more than baggy trousers I don’t want to wear them as much now.
The good thing about thrift shopping is being able to experiment without committing.
I found this blazer in a thrift shop. It’s a good brand and is so comfortable with a little stretch. Pic 1. I tried my usual with the slim jeans and combat boots.
Pic 2. Tried with cotton joggers and Birkenstocks and this is what I wore to work.
Pic 3 tried the joggers with another blazer…proportions seem off
Pic 4 -5 . some new pants I found …not my usual style but something I thought I could dress up with blazer and heels. I thought they looked better before I took a photo of them. Another thrift experiment.

I love the new pants , and the new blazer ! #’s 2 and 3 are my favs .

Wow, this is quite a sharp ease which I love!!! Both new things, the new blazer and the new pants definitelly have that ease you were looking for--and they work great together or even with other pieces you styled them here! A slam dunk!

Thank you LJP. Actually the new pants are pics 4 and 5. The joggers are old pants I’ve had in the back of the cupboard for over 6 year. A good argument for holding on to things.
Thank you lyn67. I find the pants really comfortable and easy to wear in transitional weather but I think the shiny pants are more dress up.

Gosh i like them all…the subtle pattern on the pants in #4 & 5 is fab, a great way add interest to black pants. I think the proportions in #3 are fine, but maybe this outfit needs different footwear, maybe the boots from #1

#2 and #5 - the accidental suits are my favourites. The blazer jacket looks like a classic, but you’ve styled it in an interesting way - juxtaposed with casual athletic style pants and sandals - so it is modern, fresh, and hip!

The jacket looks like a great fit -- it works really well with the joggers in #2. I also love the new pants in 4/5.

The jacket in 3 is shorter, so the proportions are different. If you tried it with different footwear and scrunched the sleeves, I think it would work a lot better. Lower contrast bottoms might also ease your eye into the look.

I think the new blazer is a great find, works fab in #1 and #2. I also like outfit #3, and I don’t see any issues with proportions. Those new pants seem like they have a bit sheen to them and would definitely work well with heels and your blazer.

I like the new blazers, particularly the longer ones. I might like the sleeves scrunched rather than rolled so high. And the shiny pants especially.

@runcarla - I like the term 'accidental suits'. The fabric is not the same shade or texture but I dont thinkt that matters these days.
@Suz yes I'm thinking that jacket might go well with white or gray pants.
@Dee yes they are quite shiny and silk (but not silk). They dry very quickly and don't crush.
@Umlila I have a habit of folding my sleeves. Will have to experiment.

@Jaime - yes yay to thrifting but I now have to start weeding out my wardrobe again as thrifting can make you acquire a lot.

I love these! The blazer in #3 is very cool and I love the shiny pants. I don't mind the first look either with the skinny jeans. It is still a silhouette that I am used to seeing and I like it.

All outfits work well. Have a preference for you in a longer blazer as in #2 and #5.

New pants are fab! But need a hack - unless they are fine to wear they are in #5, and the hems don't slip under your heels. Full length slouch and scrunch is on trend!

@Angie the pants seems comfortable at current length but I guess I need to walk around and see how they are.
I do think you are right about jacket proportions and the shorter jacket seemed to work better with a longer shirt under it

I like all of theses outfits and new pants are fab. My favourite is 2 I like the slouchy look and the sleeves rolled up in the jacket.

YES! Clever, Sally! The long shirt under the shorter jacket visually tricks the eye and elongates proportions. Well done

The new pants are great and I also love the new blazer! Perfect finds. You have styled the new blazer really well, you look beautiful in all the outfits. I love the addition of the long white shirt to the shorter jacket - very chic!

This is so interesting to see how you have added length to the shorter jacket with the white shirt - the outfit is fabulous. You wear all of these so well, stylish with a minimum of fuss. The new Birks are perfect too and they are just so comfortable, my favourite summer sandal.
