Trends you missed, but now wish you had caught?

Does anyone have any recent trends that they missed or skipped for whatever reason, but now wish they had jumped on? I wish I had managed to find a leather pencil skirt last year, and I still want one of those oversized clutches. I might have to make one of the latter for myself but it won't be the same as a big rich leather one.

I've seen quite a few leather pencil skirts in the Autumn 2012 collections, Mander, so I think it's still possible to find a good one.
I loved the floral print blazer trend, and did buy one, but sadly the quality wasn't good and it became unwearable after only a few wears. I do wish I could find a better-quality replacement with a print that I like just as much.

Interesting question. I can't think of any that have truly passed me by that I've regretted, but I definitely have a few that I worry will fade.

What happens when fitted, structured jackets go away? I have a small closet full of those and love wearing them. If we go back to the Talking Heads' "Big Suit" era, much of my wardrobe will be irrelevant.

I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy a really nice black/white striped knit blazer that I saw earlier in the year. I was trying to be good and not buying black, but then Angie posted striped blazers as being one of the trends to try and I've regretted not buying it ever since.

My problem isn't so much a trend I missed as a shopping window I missed. Here in Canada seasons are too short, and stores don't carry many items in my size. So if I don't get something in the month or so during which my size is still available, that's it I'm screwed. For example cute summer shoes. There are none of my size. Even - and especially, on sale. Summer's over for the stores. But July isn't even over!

I regret not buying more fitted knee-length shorts last year and the year before. I have one pair from Max Azria and they make my rear look huge. All the shorts this year are an unflattering mid-thigh boyfriend style (that you're supposed to roll) or tight short shorts. Yes there are a few loose fit shorts but the ones I like are around $150 and up, which seems like too much considering I just wear them around the house.

CL-- per another recent thread, I highly recommend finding straight leg pants and having them hemmed to the shorts length you want. Great use of thrift/consignment store finds, or anything that's on clearance...
