Trend Question: High low hem Photo added

Do you think these are going to date relatively soon? I bought a high/low hem dress--below knee cap length in the front and mid calf in the back--nothing too exaggerated. Do you think it will be good for a couple of years? a year?

ETA: I realize I have a blue dress this color but this one looks more current to me. It also hides my gimpy calf a little. I got a new brace yesterday and am walking somewhat gingerly. I'm in a quandary over shoes though--I can barely squeeze my running shoes over this. There's always something but at least I'm on the mend!

Hmmm, not sure, but I think they have at least a year of longevity, probably 2-3 depending on where you live!

High-low has not yet reached WI, so you would be cutting edge wearing it here at the moment!

I think they will be around for a while still. They seem to be just now catching on a bit --- but at a recent high end rehearsal dinner and wedding reception in Houston with a LOT of young women I must say I didn't see even one. Not sure what that means - late to the trend?

I am still seeing lots of hi low hemlines on tops. But the difference between the hi and lows are not as exaggerated as before. I think the more exaggerated the hi-low nature, the more it will date. Can we see the dress? Also let's see what Angie says!

Hmm, I agree that it's only just catching on in most places. During my wedding weekend, I only saw one high-low dress... and I was wearing it (for the rehearsal dinner). There are tons in stores though so I think it is only just filtering down to real life now.

(Oh, and I agree with Denise too. I see a lot more hi-low tops than dresses. They are admittedly easier to wear.)

Great observations. I don't see lots of high lows being worn around here either. I really like the more subtle ones--shopping with DD's I saw the severely exaggerated versions which I'm not really crazy about. I will post a picture of the dress later--but I'm pretty sure it is a keeper.

I'm seeing them everywhere, along with maxis, here in Toronto. If you love the dress and can get two summers out of it at least, to me that is worthwhile. I buy pretty cheap summer clothing though, and I find it doesn't last as long as winter clothing even from the same stores - more washing due to summer sweat and grime, cotton fades, etc. So I'm okay with trendy summer pieces.

@Jules: I guess Toronto is way more fashion forward than the U.S.! I do think I'd get a lot of use out of it for summer--especially to hide the gimpy leg! Thanks!

Good to hear that it's still on the upward trend, because this is really cute on you I agree that the less exaggerated the hi-low, the better and more long-lived probably.

Love the drape and the color of the dress on you Kelly! Glad to hear you are on the mend too.

I think Sarah had a great idea about hemming -- that would work really well for this dress later.

Congrats on your new brace. I like the dress but I do think it's pretty firmly "now". I think you could get at least two summers out of it, though.
