Trench dress from recent haul - Keep or return?

I get to use the yay or nay feature!!

The post is mainly to decide whether to keep the Spense trench dress (dress #1) from this weekend's unexpected shopping binge. But while I was taking pictures, I thought well I'll just go ahead and take pictures of the other two dresses (NY&Co & AT) too. Sort of like show and tell

The Spense dress is a very, very different silhouette for me and I'm a little unsure if the top is a little busy/overwhelming? I do love the idea of a trench dress and that it is a fit & flare.

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that if I wanted to do feminine and flirty, it would tend to be more on the lines of retro classic feminine and not floaty, ruffly or floral-y. It's good to know!

I hate picking one, but here goes : 3, 1, 2. I think that they are all great for different occasions.

#1 is amazing and different! I also like #3 a lot, but hey stick to your guns. Definitely keep #1, though.

I'll be the odd woman out: I'm not a fan of #1 (something about the fit around the bust area) but I really like #2 and I think #3 looks good too.

Love 1 and 2 on you, Vani. The fit and flare is perfect on you. I had a dress like this ages ago and loved it to death. Love the waist surrendering look of 2. I like dress 3 a lot too but the style doesn't look as fresh to my eye as the other two : )

So, I'm keeping the trench dress - yay! And it is quite comfortable too!

I've also become obliged to keep the second dress as it was a combined purchase with my friend to avail of a coupon at NY&Co. She has some insecurities which makes it hard for her to shop for anything. So, when she did find something I wanted to encourage her to take the plunge. Returning this dress will invalidate the coupon only make her question her purchases which I really don't want. With the coupon the dress comes down to $20 for the dress and it is good quality fabric and quite versatile so I'm not too worried. Another reason why I don't like shopping for myself when with company.

Kelly nailed it when she said the AT dress isn't so fresh. So, though it will be hard, back it goes because I'd much rather spend that money on the blouses that Angie blogged about today. Would be perfect for us with 9 months of summer!

Jonesy, I think the volume or poofiness on the top is caused by the lapels in the middle where they overlap. I am pretty sure it should be contained if I sew the top lapel to the bottom at the overlap.

For $20 the NYC dress is worth keeping, but for future reference, when you use those coupons (spend $75, get $25 off, etc) returning something doesn't invalidate it. All of the individual prices are adjusted on the receipt to reflect the percentage off and so if you were to return your dress, you'd get the $20 back and your friend would still have hers for the price she paid.

Does that make any sense?
