Traveling in flower socks

I recommend wearing fun socks when traveling. At the height of security line hassle, I took of my shoes and had something to smile about (#1).

I'm on my way to a 4 day conference in Portugal, where I give a talk on the last day so needed to bring something extra to wear that will be clean and fresh. For traveling I'm wearing leggings and a comfy dress and scarf.
I've packed:
Jeans
Burgundy pants
Navy and charcoal Tshirts
grey shell
Burgundy print blouse
Cotton light grey pullover
Black cardigan
Black blazer
Charcoal trenchcoat
Scarves
Black ankle boots

That's a well planned travel wardrobe. And I love the hint about the socks and smiling during security. I really like your socks, what brand are they?

Thanks Barbara Diane. Not sure about the socks brand, they were a gift from my New York City relatives, who can find anything!

I like that the pattern is on the foot!
I assume the blazer is for the presentation. What other pieces will you wear with it?

Fashiontern...well honestly I hadn't decided! The blazer is for general extra warmth in the conference as these things are usually frigid. But with the excitement and nerves of giving my presentation, I think it would be too warm. I'm thinking, burgundy pants, grey shell, black lightweight cardigan, and necklace. I think that will work with the potentially awkward microphone rig too.

So wearing jeans the three conference days before then. That works because they're jeans.

Thanks for the recommendation. And perhaps fun socks at the security line will make even angry guards smile? Last year, I had an experience with a security guard who was really rude against passengers who didn't move fast enough. She was yelling to them--in languages they didn't understand, so of course that didn't help much. But it schocked those of us who understood the terrible words she used, and we had to ask her to calm down and try to be more patient and understanding with the people she was actually supposed to help. Fun travel socks would definitely be worth trying in difficult situations like this!

Fashiontern, that's right. Though the burgundy pants would also hold up for two wears if necessary. Was going for a carry-on but they made us all check anyway. Hoping my bag makes it through my two connections, otherwise I will be wearing leggings, a comfy dress and flower socks for my talk!

For reasons I can't explain, I love packing posts and photos. (I have been known to watch Tom Bihn packing videos on YouTube for entertainment.) Your sock story made me smile and your capsule is well curated.

I'm going on a trip in a couple weeks- I'm gonna take your advice and wear fun flowered socks, too!
