travel bag with strap with pockets?

This winter I saw this intriguing item from Beis - the survival strap, which you can attach to another bag and has a pocket for phone and a card. Reviews say it's a bit short for many people though. And I need a new smallish bag anyway. During a couple of recent trips I have been thinking I'd really like to find such a thing, and have looked at a few airport shops and found nothing of this type.

Has anyone seen / or has - a nice, travel friendly small-to-medium crossbody bag with a wide strap with pockets for phone and a few other items?

Ah that's interesting. I haven't seen this type of belt, but can recommend Kipling bags for travel or whenever you are on the go.

They come in different sizes, colours, and patterns and most of them have a wide strap (adjustable to a decent length, important when you're on the taller side, like I am:-). Many of them have an outer zipped pocket and interior pockets for phones etc.

What a cool idea! I’d love to swap out the strap on my usual bag for one, but you say these are on the short side, so I won’t. Still, I’m going to keep my eyes open. If you find good ones, please tell us.

the specs say 20.75” and the model is carrying his bag higher than I like to carry mine, so I def agree with you on the length. Besides travel stores, I see they had them at Nordstrom. They’re sold out now, and none of the recommended other items are similar—they are all bags, which misses the point.

PPS with a little more poking around, I see that you can get pockets to put on straps. Gossamer seems to be a big name there. And Hermes tried something similar to the Beis strap once. https://bagaholicboy.com/2020/.....bag-strap/
Neither of those work for me—I like the way the pockets are integrated into the one you posted, and the fact that there’s more than one. I think I’d want 3—phone, cards, boarding passes. Maybe passport too, but that’d make it awfully wide.

What a great idea. I’m reminded of something I saw… like a travel scarf with pockets… buy that’s only for cold weather!

What a coincidence - literally *just* posted this to J'Aileen's thread. It's the Adda by Côte & Ciel - might be a little pricey for travel
though! But it seems this style is referred to as a 'sling' pocket strap?

I really like that shoulder strap idea. I purchased a mini card wallet from Vera Bradley. It doesn’t have room for a phone however it does hold my photo ID and my bank cards, etc. I can also fit a small amount of cash if needed. It zips shut to hold everything secure and since it hangs around my neck is easy access at an airport for my ID, etc. at TSA checks. It’s smaller than my wallet or handbag and very lightweight.

Zaoebi, cool! It’s apparently 14x45. If that’s inches, it’s long enough but ridiculously wide. If it’s cm, then it’s shorter than the one salt-sea posted, but might work for shorter people who like to carry their bags high. https://www.coteetciel.com/pro.....ooth-black

Yeah it's annoying that they don't specify the measurements system - or even the model's height, so you can guess, lol.

The Adda does look nice and sleek but I hate the idea of the metal clips digging into my back, and I really want multiple pockets. The metal clips may be a fault of the Beis strap as well, since it can be used on another bag.

Thank you so much for the update! You mentioned a couple that I had thought I’d get around to looking at. I agree with you that bulky is not desirable. (But it almost seems like the makers think it is)

I had a Lug crossbody that was great for travel, but only lasted 2 trips before it started ripping at the seams. I just purchased a medium-sized Kiplinger crossbody that has as many pockets as the Lug but appears to be better quality. I have a smaller Kipling crossbody for everyday use that I really love. However, I would purchase a wider strap for my travel handbag if reasonably priced & not too short or too long.

This is a pretty clever idea. Last year I bought a Waterfly small sling bag because the front strap had a pocket for my phone and cardholder (on Amazon).

It might be too nylon/sportyfor many, but I really like it for walking, and when I know I will be taking pictures.

Roberta, I have something similar to that gray bag. Mine is gray also, actually. It doesn’t hold enough for me to use it for traveling, but I do use it for hiking. My husband & I walk a lot when vacationing—about 5 miles a day—so a bag like that is a must.
