I've been off skinnies for quite some time. I've been crushing on boyfriend and girlfriend jeans and chinos, oversized sweaters, volume over leggings. We talk about JFE, but I had actually forgotten how good traditionally flattering feels. I purchased the Madwell 9" high waist skinnies in berkley because I really wanted jeans to tuck into boots and even though I don't usually wear jeans with stretch, or anything remotely jeggings like, I love them! I size up so that with wear they fit like cigarette jeans, skimming but not skin tight. I liked them so much I bought the Madewell 9" skinnies in coltrane - a fantastic clear gray with almost a striate weave that gives dimension and life to the fabric. I paired them with my new Frye Shane tipped booties, embellished belt, Everlane $100 crew neck cashmere sweater (the winter tee shirt of choice) and my trusty Theory Urban Salata Blazer. Covered it all with the best ever toss over coat - the Everlane Cocoon coat. Of course, the Coach drifter mixed media crossbody bag. I had actually forgotten how good it feels to wear traditionaly flattering silhouettes. I have long legs to start with but the jeans makes them miles long. So I am feeling a sea change coming on! I will still be wearing my beloved oversized pieces and girlfriend jeans, but the Madewell jeans are definitely my best winter refresh especially when paired with my new frye booties. Is anyone else crushing on traditionally flattering silhouettes?
