Top's lenght doubts

Following Angie's post, last weekend I wore this outfit for a walk in the park, I love this linen tunic, but looking at the photo, I think the proportions are wrong. What do you think?

I don't think so. I actually like these proportions, at least my eyes do.

For more constructive feedback, I decided to come back and ask you a question:
Where does the tunic hit you? I think photos lie a lot and they make me look shorter than I am because I take awful photos. I believe the rule of thumbs for tunic tops are mid thigh/just enough to cover the bottom but if it's longer it does have a shortening effect.

Hi, Rute - I think most people are going to say it is great (and it is so nice to see you outdoors!!! - great jacket!!)

I have to admit that I find the tunic a bit long. Please keep in mind that for myself I have a bit of a poison eye for long tunics (I mean on ME) because of my own body proportions. So I am especially sensitive about this look.

I also wonder if the proportions are distorted by the photo angle. If it is taken from above your legs will look shorter than IRL.

I agree with Suz. The outfit is great, but the length is a little too long. I got the same responses on my outfit yesterday. I didn't really notice it until the ladies said something. I think it makes your legs appear shorter like my sweater did me. Besides the length, the look is fab!

I actually wish it was a little longer. I see what people are saying about the proportions, but a little shorter would have it not cover your butt, right? I think a little longer would fix the ratio just as well (though of course you can't easily make this particular top longer, I presume).

As a petite woman who just recently became fully aware of proportions (taking photos for a blog is a big wake up call!) I too am very sensitive to this and think your instincts are dead on.

I think it is a bit long with those pants. Perhaps with a skinny jean it would work better.

maybe it is the rule of thirds again, the white shirt seems to be about perfect at cutting you in two, but apparently our eyes prefer to see splits in thirds. And the white is so striking that the black jacket doesn't 'fix' it. Maybe with a longer black jacket so the white just peeks out?

I like the outfit but the proportions look a bit off to me too, in that the tunic looks a little too long. Besides the ideas you've already gotten, i wonder if the high color contrast is a factor. I have a sweater dress that is worn as a tunic but it only seems to work with low contrast leggings.

What about a neutral colored belt to "take up" a bit of the length, without uncovering your rear-view?

The length issue is more obvious in a photo, for sure, particularly since the white grabs all the light.

You look great, and I wish I was by the water, with no mounds of snow!

I agreed, the tunic is probably a hair long (or short... in that in between land really). But I think the camera angle is exasperating the issue quite a bit too. Perhaps hemming a bit or maybe adding a wide lace trim or such (since mixed media is all the rage?) to the hem to go longer will give you more options for styling the shirt. Love the photo by the water. Looks so fresh with the wind and your leather jacket is great.

I like the tunic length, but think that the outfit may have looked better with a shorter jacket. I don't find it too off as is, though, unlike some others.
