Topper with asymmetrical top

This outfit has become a FFBO since the weather warmed up but I need a topper for AC. I wore this white jacket yesterday but am not convinced it works.
Comments and suggestions welcome

The top is great, and the jacket is great. But together, I think there may be too many opposing angles.

Yes Carter, that's what I am thinking.
On another occasion I wore my plain black cardigan with it. I am not sure how well that worked either (no pics I am afraid)

I think I'll have to rule out this top for work wear, unless I wear it tucked.

I kind of wonder if the topper should be plainer? I do love that purple top and the stripe skirt on you. Deborah will probably weigh in and sort you out.

How is the family adjusting to the move, and how is your new job going?

Thanks Pil. Yes I think the topper does have too much going on.

My family has adjusted well to the move, for which we are thankful. The kids love their new school, and they are coping with me working full time. DH picks them up from school and prepares the evening meal mostly (or my Mum does). My job is going well and I have passed the probationary stage.

I think the jacket & shirt details are fighting a bit. That shirt is gorgeous on you though! Have you tried layering under it? Although that'd make it harder so switch from hot outside temps to indoor AC ones.

Anne the top is really cool! I think it makes such a big statement on its own, it's a shame to add a topper; I would also opt for a simpler topper if one was needed (or a simpler top to pair with the lovely jacket). I love how the outfit looks in #2.

E I have tried a top underneath it in cooler weather - I wasn't that taken with the look of it and you are right it isn't what I need to cope with hot outside and fluctuating air con inside.
Anyway I have a long hot summer ahead and plenty of opportunity to wear this outfit at other times. And I have lots of other outfits to wear on casual Fridays to work.

Anne this draped top is lovely and would work equally well with white pants, of whatever length takes your fancy.
I agree, keep it for the really hot weather when you wont need a topper.
I love your white jacket and would like to see it styled with the striped tube and a simple, tucked or high hip length top.
Your blue sandals are just the ticket.

What a fabulous top! Anne can I ask where it's from? I agree it may be best without a jacket but if I was going to add a topper, it would be a jacket cut like the Theory Lanai jacket Shannon has...of course in a summer weight:). It's modern, edgy, and simple and wouldn't compete with the top....IMHO.

Love the beautiful top and the color combo of pink, blue and stripes! I agree the topper needs to be simple. I wonder if a cropped jacket would work better with this style of top. Tucking the top will work I guess but the top would lose its pretty assymetrical design.

How about layering over a white button down or long sleeved tee for warmth?

ETA - I see you have already tried layering underneath. Hmmmm .. May be it would work best for warmer days.

That top is stunning on you Anne and I love it paired with that skirt. I also like the jacket with the skirt but agree that the jacket and top don't play well together.

Just putting in my two cents - the top is lovely and drapes beautifully, but I do agree that a different jacket is in order. How about a lapelless blazer or lapelless long sweater?

Your outfit looks wonderful without the jacket.
I have a similar top and find that the topper that works best is a long cascading cardi worn open that is just a bit longer in front than back.

How gorgeous you look! This is a very modern, but easy, approach to warm weather dressing. I love the white jacket, too. Sure, the top looks best "untopped," but I'd hate for you to be chilly. The skirt is a real style booster, and the sandals a bit of color.

Cute top! I love your sandals too. What if you just casually semi-tucked the long tail of the top when you go to put on the white blazer? Do you think that might work?
