I am just wondering if pants are getting slouchier and baggier, what trend would tops follow? Longer tunic length tops followed skinnies. Would they still be on trend with looser pants?

I think so... although I cant say I am an expert I am taking Angie's "wear your clothes a little looser" statement to include tops and bottoms. I think that larger tops over larger bottoms is basically the volume on volume trend. I especially like looser fits when paired together to involve drapey fabrics that fall back against the body in movement to show that one is actually not just wearing a tent, IYKWIM .

I have been wondering, too, especially about jackets. In trying on, I've found that for me, personally, the best matches with the slouchy pants have been:

Tucked in button downs
Cropped (or faux tucked) sweaters, slightly loose but not super oversized
Cropped or shrunken jackets
Moto style jackets (see some of Denise's - CocoLion's -- posts for this option)
Jackets that nip in very obviously at the waist

Sarah A, I agree that fabric becomes so much more important when doing volume on volume as this trend can be tricky.
Suz, look at you rocking those slouchy pants.......you are tucking or semi tucking in all of these so i guess this is one of the tricks to wear sloucy bottoms with slightly oversized sweaters. What about lenght of tops? I dont think tunic lengths will work with slouchy bottoms at all.

Mona, I think that tunic tops and longer jackets can and do work, it just depends on the proportions. I am tall with longish legs for my body type and these slouchy and baggy pants work well together with long tops and jackets. Someone with proportionally shorter legs might need some heel height or would do better wearing cropped jackets and tops, it just depends I think.

I've seen voluminous palazzo style pants work really well with oversized and long/tunic sweaters, too.

Cropped, tailored, tunic, short, roomy, tucked, un-tucked - all sorts of juxtapositions with roomy, tailored and body con bottoms.

If I had to describe the trending fashion look for the next long while in two words, it would be: Unstructured Structure.

Yeah, I think Claudia is right - to some extent it depends on personal proportions. For me (being shorter and shorter of leg) tucked or cropped is better and I probably can't take volume on volume without a fair bit of structure in some area. But I will keep experimenting. I have never liked myself in tunics to begin with or long tops, even. So that may be my own issue.

And I don't like myself in cropped jackets, or tops unless there is some asymmetry, otherwise they hit at the widest part of my hips.

And longer, generally untucked tops lengthen the upper torso space that my big bust takes up.

I am delving into this topic in the coming weeks! I actually really love the slouchy bottom trend (especially as someone with a larger bottom) and think that the top I am going to opt for is a "one size up" approach. Meaning, if I normally wear a M sweater that is fairly fitted to the body, I'm going to order one size up and get a tiny bit of a baggier fit. To combat the volume on volume and lack of shape problem, i'm planning on tucking the top into the front of the pants loosely just to create some definition. I also think that the slouchier trend would be great with a highwaisted style.

Not sure how this ^ is going to look on someone with more volume on the bottom half of their body, but i'm testing it soon with my own pieces. Will be sure to update everyone!

Claudia, being tall with longish legs would definitely make volume on volume easier and being somebody shorter, I would definitely need heels.
Angie, unstructured structure, hmmmm......I need to understand the elements of this more. I wil take a look at these boards when I get home. It is nice to know that all kinds of tops can be paired with slouchier bottoms.
Suz, we have the same problem. I am short with short legs but you have reallly owned this style with tucking.
Lauren, I love semi tucking and have recently been thinking about expanding my belt collection for this. I will be waiting for your outfits to see how you rock volume on volume. off to take a look at your link...
