Top 5 Reasons I love YLF - YouLookFab Forum

Hi everyone!

I just love YLF. I thought I'd put together some reasons for why I love it so much:

1) Fantastic inspiration from the lovely ladies on the forum. I love to check out all your outfits, and to see you all wearing things in a way I wouldn't have considered. It's really fun watching someone's style journey. A special shout-out here to st4grrl, Rosie, greenglove...and of course Angie. The style I see on you ladies inspires me sooo much and I look forward to seeing your posts! There's heaps more but these spring to mind right now.

2) It inspires and motivates me to be creative and different. Knowing I can use the forum as a souding board and knowing I'll get positive and constructive feedback on ideas makes me more motivated to try new things.

3) It has resurrected many of my wardrobe orphans. I have found so many new ways to wear clothes I had gotten bored of - mainly through layering them and adding accessories to make them more interesting. This includes tops I had given up on, bags, shoes etc. that I now look forward to wearing because they work in a particular combo.

4) Really interesting and relevant blog topics. A BIG shout out to Angie here who clearly puts in a huge amount of work. I love coming into work or getting home in the evening to find a new nugget of priceless information and ideas on the blog. Some of my fave posts are your own outfit posts Angie, your spunky and daring style has motivated me to be more daring as well. And those colour combos...wow! But what makes it so fun for me is that I can actually see myself trying some of the looks. Where I used to be a bemused onlooker of fashion and style, I am now willing to step out and try some of it for myself! So, thank you!

5) Encouragement, support and community. I know when I post something there'll be some nice and useful replies, and always encouragement. I love that people share something of themselves on here, takig it from just a forum on fashion and style to a community where fashion and style intersect with life.

In addition to all those excellent reasons, I can't say how much I appreciate Angie's steering us toward comfortable, stylish shoes. They are so hard to find in the real world that I am eternally grateful when shoe recommendations show up on the site!

Tara, I agree with everything you said and you expressed it so well...the courage to try new style ideas, to use old items in new ways, inspiration from the outfits of other members, all of Angie's hard work and fantastic advice... I also love this community and "meeting" women from so many places with different lifestyles. In many ways we are alike too.

I don't know what I can add to an already detailed and accurate listing. I find the information from both Angie with the blog posts and the forum feedback invaluable as I try to define my style, learn about fit, and streamline my shopping.

I agree with everything already stated... those are all my reasons for being a true YLF addict.

Here is what I've been thinking the past few days.. and I hope I can communicate this without sounding self absorbed.... For the first time in my life I really feel pretty and am confident in my skin and I give all the credit to YLF. It's not just because people give me nice compliments on my outfits, but I think it's because I have learned here how to dress myself to look my best. I've learned that it's okay that I cannot pull something off the way someone else can. I've begun to find my own style and that it's okay to celebrate that and not always be trying to look like someone else. I've learned that it's okay to take a risk and wear a less than fab outfit... chalk those up to a lesson learned. I am learning every day what works and what doesn't. So thank you to everyone here for making me feel like a million bucks at times and also for being honest enough to tell me when something just isn't cutting it.

But beyond all of that, I just love the community and transparency of everyone here. I love that we all come from different corners of the globe, different walks of life, different shapes and sizes and nobody here is trying to be better than anyone else. I see nothing but intelligent vibrant women here who just want to look their best while they go through this journey of life.

Tara, you couldn't have said it better! I love YLF for exactly those reasons, but the one thing that makes this community really stand out is the positive, supportive environment. And that comes from each and every fab poster here with the leadership of the fabbest of the fab, Angie (and Greg!).

I have had about a week of not getting to YLF and I was having massive withdrawals - so the very first thing I am doing today (i slept in til midday!!) is checking in here!!

Kim your comments ring so true with me as well - I have never felt better about myself than I have since joining here... yes I've liked my body, but not how I was dressing it - now I love both... most of the time!

Hi Kim - thanks for missing me! Its a long weekend here in Aus, and after a crazy last week with school stuff and a very big day at the races on Saturday I'm really only surfacing now - midday Monday LOL

And there's another reason I love YLF - each of us do notice the presence or lack of, of our ylf family!!
