so...here is why you havent seen me around...

in december 2016 I went to India over the christmas break to see my mom and siblings.we had a great christmas and new years but the relationship between me and my husband remained strained.

on january 2nd 2017 the women: me, my mom, sister, sis-in-laow, 2nieces and bebe went to delhi and the golden temple. It was eat, pray and love a malgamamated.

But God had different plans for me.On the way back from delhi to mumbai I had a seizure even though I had been seizure free for >12 months prior and was unable to walk off the plane and had to be lofted off via air ambulance. I know this only from.... to be continued...

I've also wondered about you often Sona - I do hope you are getting good medical care and that you have your family supporting you. Dealing with a serious chronic medical condition must be such a huge challenge, then add on other stressors and wow, I'm just proud of you and so glad you checked in. I hope you will be able to share more soon.

long story in super short: traumatic briain injury: was unable to walk, groom, bathe or feed myself. bebe and husband returned stateside. my mom refused to give up. it took an army of care givers, her unwavering devotion and belief that I was not meant to die at age 41 that has seen me thru the last 2 years bebe is extremely proud of her mama. she has come to visit me twice and last fall we celebrated her 13th bday in MN. she is bouncing back from a serious eating disorder which this mama TBI nothwithstanding was the one to flag to her pediatrician and therapist.the father has been the primary parent but....

sometimes words are not enough.

I am in MN currently thru months end for final divorce hearings.

I am lucky to have my mom, siblings, bebe, great physicians, friends and the Almighty watching over me. Blessed this Mothers day and how.

In sartorial news: I will post pics tomorrow. I have gone from a US size 12-14 to a size 4.Not sure i believed it at first but mynew jeans and dresses dont seem to lie.sales associates have been tremendous. wow. someone pinch me. but make my thinned face plump up too.

Oh Sona, what a few years it has been. I am so sorry you had to go through this all, but very happy to read that you are doing and feeling better (and your sweet daughter too), and that you have such wonderful support from your family, friends, and doctors.

Sona, I'm so glad you are able to share your story - that in itself is just amazing and so fantastic. My dad suffered a severe brain injury just before he turned 60. The team of neuro doctors told us all that there was NO way he would ever speak, walk or perform on his own. They advised us to stop life support. I wasn't convinced and spent a lot of time researching and finding ways to get him to respond. The doctors ignored me. His wife (second marriage) was the decision maker. Anyway, they did stop life support (the morning after I and other family members privately told him they were going to and he needed to fight hard if he wanted to live). He woke up once they removed the life support and began talking straight away - took a while to make sense but he began joking around within days! The doctors didn't want to visit with us much after that. Fast forward through a lot of rehab over about two years and he was back about 80% of his former self. He suffered some heart issues during the whole ordeal (previous issue), and that impacted him. But he lived many more years to enjoy with his kids and grand kids. That was long ago and my dad has since passed but I'll never forget that experience and his resolve to prove the medical staff wrong ;-).

I am very happy for you and glad you have a caring and strong mother.
