Too Matchy Matchy - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Ladies,

Apologies for not actually wearing the outfit to show you but it's 10.15pm and I'm about to jump into bed

I have a work function tomorrow and am planning to wear this jacket and blouse.
Options are:

1.
Tucked in to a black pencil skirt with some drapey detail, crop leggings and red flats & jacket.

2.
Worn over black skinny leg trousers with red flats & jacket.

Anyway sorry for the long winded post, but can I carry this bag? It's more cream than the blouse which is white. Is it too much?? Not right? Etc.

Photo 1 shows the blouse, jacket and bag together and photo 2 is the blouse tucked on me (not the skirt I'm planning to wear).

It's such a busy time and I just don't seem to have the capacity to make a decision tonight

I'm not confident to venture an opinion on which you should choose, but you look very chic & poised with it tucked in photo 2!

I avoid the use of a print on two pieces at the same time, If I wear a leopard blouse, I don't wear leopard shoes. I would change the bag, but that just my opinion!

I like the sound of outifit 1, as for making a comment about your bag being too matchy I will leave that too the ladies that are more in the know have a fab time

You do look swell. I mix prints a lot or match by a "sense" of something the prints have in common plus use low contrast. So I wouldn't wear two large areas of distinct pattern that are the same. I might put, say, a solid textured purse with that outfit or a low key polka dot. Or if I were feeling bold, maybe a small striped clutch to have one set of stripes formal and the other wiggly.

Double zebra looks a bit much to me. I do love the blouse tucked in in #2. Very polished for work!

Deborah, the blouse is so gorgeous on its own and I agree with the others that the bag makes too much zebra. Oh my goodness, it is getting late, past eleven, I do hope you'll have time in the morning to check your responses. Looking forward to seeing the WIW photos.

I think you look very chic and elegant with your top tucked in--very pretty! I would go with it tucked into the pencil skirt. As for the matchy matchy bag, why not? Have fun with it! I can't say no to you, because I just did leopard blouse with leopard shoes recently:

I think any option will work though they will have very different vibes. This blouse tucked into a pencil skirt is more lady-like and classic while the same blouse worn with skinnies is more modern adn edgy.
I would definitely use another bag: I think you can use 2 animal prints in the outfit if one is bold and another is subtle but this bag is too close in scale to the blouse and they compete.

I am going to go against the flow and vote that you should wear the top wtih the black skinny leg trousers with red flats & jacket. I think the skinny trousers would be an unexpected sillhouette that would have everyone admiring your style.

Either slacks or skirt will look great, but I have to say Deborah I love you in a tucked in blouse! That is a lovely belt or waist detail on the skirt. Fab-u! I'm not sure if the skinny pants lend themselves to tucking or not (sometimes the waistband is too low and the top blouses weirdly). If so, untucked works just fine. There is something about tucking with a skirt that changes the proportions and I like it. Hope your are having/had a great day!

I vote nay for the bag but when you have time you must post a pic as I find images I make up in my head don't always match reality...

I'm echoing Janet's thoughts and think the red bag would look lovely, too. I love the print blouse on you and it's great that you wear it tucked and untucked, because either way it looks terrific. I have to resist being matchy matchy and while I don't do it as often, there still is a pull at times.
