Hi all! After my fail with finding a pair of clogs that work for me, I tried a couple of other styles of transitional shoe. I already returned all sizes of the Aerosoles pictured in Finds — even sized down, they slid off my feet too easily, something I seem to experience with 99% of backless shoes I try. Even loafers with backs rarely fit well enough and slide off my narrow heels. Enter my quest for a version with a strap across the back.

The Freda Salvador shoes, sized up, do fit me well. I even found a great half-sock that helps with comfort (https://sheecsocks.com/).

They are a really attractive, well-made shoe. But I’m wondering if they have enough edge for me. Do these skew too classic? I would have to style them mindfully because of the classic loafer profile — they skew too preppy with the chinos I’m wearing in these pictures — I think they’d work better with boyfriend jeans.

We have such a limited wearing window for transitional footwear that I’m not sure this is the right answer. They’re spendy enough that I am not keeping them unless they’re a solid 10. What do you think, YLF friends??

I added pics of what I’m actually wearing today. AG chinos, concert tee (Roxy Music), Levi’s deconstructed denim jacket, Bao Bao bag, Dolce Vita mules. As you can see, these mules work for me because of the small edge on the back of the heel, which helps keep them on my feet. I also have two sets of tongue pads in the inside, which helps take up the extra room! Maybe I can make do just fine with only gray mules instead of adding more black footwear…
