Karen13, I do my own foot maintenance and have many interesting 'tools' - clippers, and files for nails and calluses. I swear by a weekly Epsom salt soak, and Body Shop Pepermint Foot Scrub, and special foot cream applied when I remember (the label peeled off and I don't remember the name.)
For polish I use Sally Hansen Double Duty as a base coat. It can also be used as a top coat, but I prefer Seche Vite top coat. Both are transparent. The base coat keeps polish staining to nails to a minimum, and the top coat ensures lots of shine.
I've used lots of different polishes and find that in general polishes can vary in quality within the same brand - being of thicker or thinner formulations for reasons unknown to me. I like to experiment with different colours, so collect minis - usually 3-4 packs. I like the BRUSHES used by Physicians Formula and OPI. I very much like Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Polish, and Deborah Lipman makes a nice product. I know some folks swear by Essie, but I am not a fan. I do have Essie Blanc, because it is my perfect creamy white and I wore it all summer 2016 and half of summer 2017. This year I am changing up my colours every pedi - and throwing out the bottles after - because the polishes are oldish. I am keeping my favourite Physicians Formula dark orange: California Goddess and a new this summer Sally Hansen greige called Bare Hug. I will look for a new set of interesting minis for S/S 2019 next year.
Yesterday's pedi is an Opi silver (see below). 1 coat over the base coat, and the clear top coat. The coverage was very good.
*Addendum: I use Sally Hansen fast and gentle moisturizing nail polish remover (for dry brittle nails) although my nails are normal. (I don't paint my fingernails.)
