AJ had challenged me to try to use the inspiration calendar, so here is my take on today's "flowers and leather" I don't have a leather skirt, so have to settle for my pleather jacket

The DMV here is so bad, that people drive 45 minutes to go to a smaller town where it's less crowded. I feel for you!

My son (who turns 18 today) has an appt. to take his drivers test. Let's all hope he passes!

Oh, fab outfit! I went to the Los Gatos DMV last time I was home and the people there were dressed like complete bums... it was horrific. My mom and I were sitting and waiting and just observing the horrible clothing (speaking a different language comes in handy here).

Louise, it took me 3 attempts too.

Marianna- I've actually heard that the Los Gatos DMV is much easier on the kids than the one we went to. He's going to try to get his next appt. there.

Thanks all for the sweet compliments on my outfit... I do feel good in this.

so, here's my observation regarding the style quotient of the DMV workers... the gal who processed us had lovely hair, false eyelashes, manicured acrylic nails and wore an old sweatshirt with "converse" written across the front. huh???

oh well, now I'll have to decide what I will wear for my next trip to the DMV

and Khris- Los Gatos is actually a quite affluent area. I would expect people to be dressed much nicer.

Khris, Los Gatos is in Northern Cali... wrong area.

Kim, I took my test at Santa Clara... my driving teacher told me it was best to take the test there because of the easy routes. Los Gatos has a lot of hills/narrow roads which makes it harder. Who knows though... people pass and fail at each location!

good point Marianna- I know that one friend took her son 3 x to Santa Teresa and he failed everytime and always had grouchy testers. He went to Los Gatos and passed with flying colors. I'll have to check into the Santa Clara one too...
We're just gonna get the first appt that works with his school schedule actually. I think he'll do fine next time.

Also, I actually liked it when my kids failed a driving exam the first time because I think they took their skills a little more seriously (for a while, at least)! Mean mom, I know, but those insurance rates really soar if your teenager has ANY ticket or incident

I failed the written part of the exam multiple times and didn't bother with getting my license until I turned 19. Somehow I miraculously passed the driving test on the first try though, which makes me think the standards set are too low...

Enough babbling. You look fab, Kim. If everyone went to the DMV dressed like this, perhaps it wouldn't be such a gloomy, grumpy, torturous place.

sara- I don't mind the fact that he didn't pass, except that now I have to go back and stand in that line again ;-/ AND, I wish I could retake my photo. it is BAD!!!

Sometimes I actually wonder how seeing a change in how people present themselves would affect the general mood of the nation. I know when I see someone coming down the street who is well dressed and well groomed, I take note of it and it makes me feel good. Maybe that's the answer to this whole recession thing...

I truly, honestly think it would have a positive impact on peoples' psyche, even if they don't admit it.
