Thank you everyone for your infinite wisdom, this has been tremendously helpful to me. I tend not to analyze my outfits perhaps to the degree I should, before stepping out of the house. But this one truly confounded me, definitely in part to the white skinnies which was a bit of an experiment for me.
When I make an honest assessment of the photos above my preference is probably #1 (so hard to look at photos of oneself objectively). Day Vies, what you mentioned totally resonated with me. One of my priorities in dressing is leg elongation (or at least minimization of leg shortening) so that is why I gravitated to the tuck. White I think has a tendency to widen and shorten. But then I get a lot of frontal exposure which is tricky. I'm not uncomfortable exposing this area, it has remained fairly flat considering three kids. I have other trouble areas that I focus on way more (hello arms).
What I do have is a long rise and I have concerns about amplifying that. These jeans are mid-rise which is my preference. My natural waist is quite high. These jeans sit at least two inches below my belly button, if not more. If anything, I aim to appear proportionate, but realize that I don't always achieve this. I'm tallish, so that definitely helps some. I will confess that I love tight jeans, weirdly they are more comfortable to me, they stay put better, and it's part of my rocker personna.
Zapotee, I totally knew where you were going in regard to the poison eye, lol. And the bag is definitely fab, it is a great colour! We must have the same taste is bags, if I recall you have the MJ stam too? Perhaps we have some other overlap as well.
Angie, those looks are fabulous on you, have pinned for inspiration. My bootcuts are more in this vein and I will try both these looks in the spring. I so value your feedback, and your insight.
Day Vies, I loved your assessment, and I think you identified exactly why the first outfit worked for me. You have such a great eye and an excellent ability to articulate your thoughts. Thank you!
Suz, your thoughts about the belt are probably correct. What colour belt do you think would work? I tried a black one and it looked all sorts of wrong on me. I love the coat too, definitely elevates any outfit. It is Burberry, I got it this fall in Vancouver. I swear that store is my downfall.
Marley, you've made me really think about correct shirt length. I will contemplate this in my outfit selections. I think this is going to pose a challenge due to my long rise.
And everyone else, thank you for the kind words and insightful comments.
