To clog or not to clog?

I have always wanted a pair of clogs, and I finally broke down and bought a pair... Not THE pair, which I always thought would be a Dansko since that seems to be the quintessential clog.. I didn't want to spend the money since I'm still experimenting with the idea of clogs, so I bought a Born brand pair in black. I think they're really cute and a great everyday shoe, but they also feel a little "klunky" - are they more of a weekend shoe? Not to be worn out to a casual dinner or shopping at the mall for example? Just wondering...

I would pass because clogs were not big this summer so my guess is that this is a trend that has already gone!

I just consigned my Danskos yesterday because I never wore them. They were great for traveling, but I realized that I never wore them otherwise because I always felt like a horse clomping around. Also, DH was not sad to see them go.

Clogs will always have a place in my closet. They go in and out of fashion but for me (a Swede) they are a timeless look. Also comfy, give me a boost in height, and go with all my wardrobe.

I would never pass on something just because it isn't "in". My closet would be empty if that were the case! You said you've always wanted them so go for it! Def keep them for casual looks and have fun!

I'd say they're not quite an office shoe - unless your office is a bit boho/hipster/hippy OR the clogs are patent leather. On the other hand, they're a classic staple in my native land (SF Bay Area, lol).

It's what I wear between sandal season and boot season. Like Laurinda I like the boost in height without the fatigue of heels. Since I don't work I don't have to fit into a corporate look. Just the other day I was looking for a stylish replacement. The closest I came was this:

I wear slip-resistant Sanita professional clogs to work (restaurant). I believe they are a much - loved staple of people in the food service and medical professions. I can wear them for 9 hours without a break and not get tired feet. I also have a pair of Borns that I use as outside slippers. There is a huge difference between the two in terms of quality and support. My Sanitas were just $115, not bad for a shoe that I have worn 40-50 hours per week for one year with few signs of wear. I think I got my Borns at TJ Maxx for $39, but they started wearing out after one month.

I am still on the fence and whenever I put them on, I end up switching them out for another shoe. As much as I want to like them, they just aren't ME. Thanks for the great comments! I'm a SAHM and do A LOT of running around, so the search continues for a comfy, everyday shoe.
