I've stalked a few items in my day, and for this, I set up searches and saved them. Every day, I would get an email from eBay for each search I saved (you can play with these settings).
When you get a daily search results email from ebay, it usually highlights newly listed items within your search, which saves time. But you can click a link to review all the results of your search.
For your Burberry, I would set up three different searches:
#1:
Type Burberry in search
Choose: Vintage -> Women's Vintage Clothing
Click on "Product Type" and select "Coats and Jackets" AND "Not Specified"
You can decide if you only want results from a certain area. Worldwide, I got 25 items.
Save this search. (Note: In Vintage, there isn't a way to select specific sizes, but again, there isn't a lot of Burberry turning up in this category)
#2
Type Burberry in search
Choose: Women's Clothing -> Coats & Jackets
Click on Size and choose every size option that you think will potentially fit you well, as well as "Not specified" (for my sizing, this pulls up around 600 coats, so I usually also sort by Price + Shipping = Lowest First, and I browse that way)
If you know for certain that there is a specific color range you want, choose those colors (I always click "not specified")
Save this search
#3
Type Burberry in search
Choose: Women's Clothing -> Suits & Blazers (I did this and the first page has two trenches.)
Choose your size range, etc.
Save this search
Some general notes:
I don't buy anything from someone with less than 25 transactions- but for designer items, I don't buy anything from someone with less 100 transactions - and I check to make sure that at least half of those transactions are sales, not purchases.
I don't bid on anything from anyone who has less than 92-93% satisfaction ratings. If someone has bought and sold 15 items, and isn't at 100% satisfaction - chances are they are going to take you for a ride.
It sounds very persnickety, but there are a lot of fakes on eBay. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. If someone has a brand-name item up for auction, for cheap, and there are no bids on it with 1-2 days left to go... chances are the item is a fake.
If you have ANY doubts about a seller, go read their feedback, even if they have a 100% satisfaction rating. Sometimes people won't give a negative rating, about a bad experience, because they don't want to take a retaliatory 'hit' to their own feedback/satisfaction rating. If you read the remarks, and consistently see negative things are being said about a seller, hang onto your money and keep searching.
As far as listing categories: People flub this up all the time, and some of the best bargains are found because someone misclassified an item,(such as listing a burberry trench under 'suits and blazers'.) For that reason, I would recommend leaving the 'style' filter alone once you get into a specific category, such as "Coats and Jackets"
