Tips for cleaning a white leather bag?

Do you condition it regularly? The oil/grease/fat you use for that can usually be used to clean leather too, if you work it a bit.

FI, I don't. It is a very sturdy leather that does not have a softness to it, and I never saw a need. I do have clear polish I treat my leather boots with maybe I should give that a try. Thanks for that thought.

I would try a damp cloth with some Marseille soap (or another type of neutral soap). Then wipe with another damp clean cloth and polish with neutral shoe polish. I do this to clean my white shoes and it works rather well.

I use Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner. I originally became familiar with it at the Subaru dealership. Because we have a pack of wild dogs (two terriers), the car seats were filthy, and these products were recommended. Lexol is available on Amazon.

Later I started buying old Coach bags. I found out they were actually washable. I use Ivory dish soap to hand wash, rinse well, and then use lots of leather conditioner. I am not recommending you do this with your bag. But whether you wash a bag or clean it with leather cleaner, the leather needs lots conditioning afterwards. If the bag gets dry, the leather can crack.

Thank you Sisi, your advice sounds very sensible and 'doable'. JAileen good point about conditioning after washing, your pack of dogs sounds very interesting! What type of terriers are they? Style Fan, i know, I still cannot believe such good luck descended upon me :). The thing is when I entered this competition I was so taken with this bag I just knew I was going to win it - Ha! The power of positive thinking.

I just own a regular sneaker/leather cleaner (shampoo I think it's called) from the shoe store that I would use on bags as well. And then condition after...

I'm always scared of messing stuff like this up, so I would probably call my local cobbler and see if he could clean it properly.

JAileen, your dogs are very cute. I am aware Jack Russells have tons of energy. Don't know much about Scotties but have always admired how cute they look. I had 2 chow-chows in South Africa and they loved hopping in the back of my Toyota Rav 4. The seats were grey material though. Sadly they passed before I moved. Here is a montage I made.

Star, your dogs were beautiful. Terriers are notorious for digging. I warn people who walk on our back lawn to look out for holes. So even if we go out for a walk in the wild (the picture was taken in a national wildlife preserve), they will take every opportunity to dig.

A neighbor had a white Scot terrier that would pull out its own hair. This really got bad after her husband died. The vet suggested they ( she and preteen son) get another dog . The son got a very big lizard instead. It did not help and was mostly in a large terrarium with a light for warmth. JAleen your “wild dogs” look so cute.
