Give the self timer another go. It will take a better picture than trying to capture a dark mirror closet picture where you are sure to be in constant shadow.
There is a self timer app on the iphone, FramexFrame and GorillaCam are two that I have used but honestly it is really hard to get a good set up with an iphone. Try it with a camera.
I put my camera on a book or bowl or something on my kitchen table, and then stand back about 8-10 feet. That seems to capture a good head to toe shot in almost the correct perspective. Looking at this morning's wiw is making me realize I could raise the camera a bit more like to counter height. So if you have the space in your house, you can pop the self timer camera on your kitchen counter. I set the timer to take 5 pictures, usually at least one of them is ok. Also, relax, smile, elongate your neck and put one of your hands at your hip. The "relax" part is the hardest for me because I usually have about 10 seconds to take a picture before my kids interrupt me. Stress while taking a wiw definitely shows up on your face, in your stance and others' potential judgement of your wiw... If I am in a bad mood or don't feel great about an outfit, others are sure to hate it because my wiw's will always show a scowl on my face. This is not a good look for anybody!
