Tips for a Dryel newbie?

I spilled SOMETHING (no idea what!) on my precious Equipment blouse today, and I'm dreading the thought of it being ruined at the dry cleaner after all the horror stories here! Are there any particular suggestions you have for using Dryel, especially iwth this shirt, or should I just follow directions and hope for success?

I can't help with Dryel- I bought some and still haven't tried it.

But as far as Equipment silk blouses, I hand wash mine and haven't had any problems at all. I use mild shampoo -maybe that's weird, but it works fine! I hang them to dry and then iron as needed. Mine have turned out great that way.

I'm still too scared to wash my Nexx shirts, though!

alas, no equipment blouses here but i've washed all my silk blouses by hand for over 20 years with no problems ever. Like Parsley says, use a gentle shampoo (or cold-process lye soap =if you have some). Just don't twist or wring the fabric, and what Parsley says.

I've never tried Dryel on that brand, but my experiences have been great! I think the box says you can do up to 4 garments at a time, but I usually just do one or 2. I'd pretreat with the pen that comes with the starter package and then put in the the bag and follow the directions. It may seem to smell detergent-y strong when you first pull it out, but once it dries and cools, you'll barely notice it.

I have been using Dryel for years, always with success! The kit includes a liquid cleanser that you blot on any spots prior to putting into the bag with a cloth, zip closed and and set dryer on medium heat for 30 minutes. Clean lint screen 1st! Up to 4 items at a time and the bag lasts for a very long time! About $10 for a kit at Walmart.

Ditto shabbychick, except I don't follow the rules on how many garments can go in. As long as they move freely, I'll keep adding garments... the pretreating pen from the kit is actually pretty good!

I think it was the Nexx blouses that had issues with handwashing and drycleaning (but the drycleaning was Zap and I think an isolated incident) I've always handwashed silk, but have just started dryel on my Nexx blouse. No stains so can't speak to that, but it does freshen nicely. Good luck - report back.

Una: I specifically chose the Equipment blouse over the Nexx because of member complaints that the Nexx couldn't be handwashed (or drycleaned, in Zapotee's case) successfully. No such reports with the Equipment, though.

Report back on the results! I can't wait to hear about how to launder the soon-to-be-mine Equipment
