Tights for Big Girls?

Well, during most recent winters I've stuck to wearing pants but this year I'd like to try to incorporate more dresses and skirts into my rotation. With the Canadian winter being what it is, I'll need a few pairs of tights - be they woolly or just opaque to keep my gams from freezing. Easier said than done.

Any suggestions for where a 5'10, 200 lb woman could find a wide selection of winter-weight hosiery? Online shopping source suggestions would be best. THANKS.

I'm not sure if they offer it in larger sizes but I wanted to rave about the fleece-lined (yes, fleece!) tights at Target. They are soft & warm but surprisingly breathable too!

It's a shame I can't take you shopping Mac. I have such a knack for finding plus size hosiery (not to my benefit, unfortunately). Every time I go to the Macy's flagship, virtually everything I find is plus size--and I'm not even in the plus department or anything (there is no specific department in the hosiery section--everything is sort of mixed together). You would be positively spoilt for choice.

I know that doesn't help at all, but perhaps it will inspire you to take a vacation here and visit me.

Spanx has lots of good options. They're expensive (I think), but I've found that they actually last, rather than ripping or running after (or even before!) the first time I wear them. They're also far more comfy than you would expect.

Thanks so much, ladies; these are very helpful. I've been happy to wear more dresses than usual this year, due to YLF inspiration, and I'm excited to try to try to carry this trend into the winter months. With some of your suggestions, it might very well be possible. YAY!

(and, Maya, I'm constantly finding beautiful clothes on deep discount in petite sizes. we need to take each other shopping! : ) )
