Well - after reading @cindysmith's comment on my post about finding a NEW Celine Edge bag at Goodwill for$40, I was inspired to go thrifting again (I rarely go - usually my mum goes and gets things for me .) When I was at her house though, I had the thrifting itch and convinced her to go with me to Value village even though it was about to close.
I went through the tops, the pants, the skirts - nothing. With 15 minutes left, I had a funny feeling there was a Smythe blazer waiting for me there.
I kept pushing hangers aside, expecting to find it. And... There it was! Amongst all the 1997 black boxy Louben Blazers and the too-tight Garage clothing cheap corduroy numbers, I saw it: a pristine new Smythe Les Vestes heathered grey pagoda blazer in my size - for $17!!
I rushed to try it on. It is sharp shouldered, immaculate and slides down my frame perfectly. It is a linen and viscose blend that makes it perfect for all seasons. I feel sleek, sharp and edgy in it. I snatched it up!
Then because I had 5 more minutes - I headed to the cardigan section (I have recently been enamoured with quality menswear cardigans as a counterpoint to my feminine pieces.) And I spotted it - an heirloom quality cardigan from Eaton's men's department, made in England, in the yummiest shade of goldenrod. The workmanship is breathtaking - satin lined pockets, beautifully inset arms, seamed pockets, beautifully finished seams. Or is perfectly oversized and hangs like a dream. And I don't think it's ever been worn!
Both pieces with be perfect for my fall capsule (as I returned some of the toppers that didn't for well from my Winners splurge.) Can't wait to make these workhorses! Is it wrong to be on a thrifting high?
I had to share here as only you guys would appreciate this thrifting miracle!
