Monday-This is how I usually dress

Tuesday-This was an attempt at skinnies based on YLF reading.

Wednesday-Another attempt based on YLF reading-leggings! This dress has never been worn and it's two years old. Should it be shortened, if so, to where? Also what about the cardigan and belt? Too much? I was too chicken to leave the house with two new trends at once for me (leggings and belted cardigan) so I left the house with the last photo (just the cardigan).

Also I added descriptions to the photos of what I wore, do you see them or should I put them here?

I really like that dress. I'll let others comment on the hem length, as I'm still developing an eye for that on other people. It seems fine to me, though.

Cardigan/belt/leggings with the dress is too much - good call. I thought the leggings and flats looked great with the dress; actually prefer that to the cardigan option.

You seem to have a willingness to mix things up and step outside your comfort zone with your wardrobe, and that's half the battle! I'm sure you will continue to be inspired by all the ideas and advice around here.

My favorite was the Wednesday dress with just the leggings. You have a great figure and good instinct to keep it simple with the dress and leggings.

The dress and leggings ensemble would be perfect if the dress was a couple of inches shorter. Try pinning it and show us again. A fabulous frock! Well done. Love the colour scheme.

Hi Lisa,
I thought the second outfit was really cool - loved the detail on the cuff of the jacket.
The dress is lovely, and very flattering but I thought you got eaten alive by the cardigan - maybe it is a bit big? The detail of the dress just got lost with it over the top.
I am a recent convert to leggings, but the more I see the more I like and I think this is a good look on you.

Tuesday fab are those studs on the cuffs of the cardi? I'm swooning!
Weds- Love it without the leggings, fantastic with the leggings but agree with others it needs to be a tad shorter x

Hi Lisa! Welcome and good on you for posting some pictures! Now keep in mind that I'm still quite new on here myself, so my suggestions are sometimes fab, sometimes drab....

Monday's outfit is a cute, preppy outfit. Would you consider unbuttoning the top button or two to create a bit of a v-neckline? I love v-necklines!

I like Tuesday's outfit a lot. It's actually my favourite of the three! That jacket is super cool and skinnies look lovely on your shape! I'd love to see you try it unbuttoned with a long necklace over the white top- to help create a really long vertical line.

Wednesday's dress is really cute. I agree that it would be great if you hem it so that it just sits around your knee (play with whether it looks best, just below knee-cap, on knee-cap or slightly above knee-cap to find your dress "sweet spot"). It looks super cute with the leggings or without! I'd love to see some chunky, retro beads as well with this dress, just to add a quirky twist.

Well done on posting! It can be really scary to post photos and I think you've done a great job. Well done and I look forward to seeing more of your adventurous and (obviously) creative spirit on here in the future! :-))

Gosh, thanks so much for the feedback! It is really, really helpful. There were a number of comments about the dress's length, I'll repost a picture with the dress pinned later today before I commit to a new length for it.

Sharon-I was wondering about the cardi's fit, it's a M and I'm usually a S, but with all the flowing cardigans I see lately I wasn't sure. I'll try it one more time with another bottom and if still a no, I have no problems tossing it.

Angie-Thanks, I plan to push my style envelope often since I've never hammered down one look for myself. It would be nice to stream line a little bit.

Louise-Yes those are studs, I will try to report a close up later. They are actually plastic! And the blazer is cotton, making is machine wash, making me a very, very happy person.

Katiepea-I will try the Monday cardigan unbuttoned next time. I agree, looking back at it now, it sort of cuts off the nice colors in the shirt. But it's been so cold lately in NJ (NJ's hot no cold, no hot weather is driving me nuts, that day was 60F and today is to be 80F) I was also wondering about Tuesday's jacket, I wasn't sure the accessories rule. Since it already had the cuff detail, would a long necklace be too much?

Lisa, I did the same thing with a boyfriend-style cardigan, and ended up with one that's just that little bit too big and won't sit quite right. Even though they're meant to be a loose, flowing style, your usual size should be fine.

I'd actually suggest a little cropped cardigan with the dress - mostly because I think the dress is cute and needs a little cute something rather than a flowy something. But I'm only just now discovering little cardigans myself, so I might be biased

Haven't read through all the posts, but here are a couple of my observations:

1) great everyday outfit, Love the cardigan, but would like to see it unbuttoned until the waist and just button at the waist.

2) Nice BF jacket, love the contrasting cuff. I would probably leave it unbuttoned.

3)Great dress, love it with the legging and flats, but the cardigan looks big on you.

Hi Lisa. You look great. I cannot believe you haven't worn that beautiful dress yet in 2 yrs! I love it on you. It's so pretty on it's own with flas or any other pair of shoes you might try with it. Before you hem it perhaps you should try it with different shoes and boots. If it works well at it's length now, then you can buy a shorter dress for your leggings look. I say this as a person who has a hard time finding dresses that are long enough to wear without leggings. I'm 5'8".
I love your skinnies and boots and studded jacket outfit. You're doing great already!
