Firecracker, it might be tough to find those tights, but I will be on the lookout!
Rachy, I tend to wear brighter colours in summer when I have a bit of suntan, and mid-toned (and sometimes softer) in winter. Not really a new direction in terms of colours.
Isabel, I wear a lot of berry colours. They are among my best. I tend to wear them much more in cooler months, though. Not as much in summer.
Thistle the skirt is slightly on the loose side, but not too big. I ordered the regular size vs. the petite because the petite is too short for me. (I already own the skirt in black in petite from a few years ago and feel it is shorter than I now prefer, so I knew.)

Manidipa -- I'll pair the skirt with two of the other sweaters I bought at NAS, with white shirts, with navy, with taupe, with other blues....etc. No problem finding partners in my closet for this skirt.
I will pair the sweater with denim, with my black slouchy trousers, with white.
Mona, I hear you about the bootie colour in winter (i.e. involves finding toned tights to work..or nude hose.) But they are great IRL and very comfy, and I think they will work for me.
