I love the converse shoes, because I wear a size 12 and they are often unisex. I also find that the completely flat footbed of converse sneakers is far and away the most comfortable for my feet. And the sleeker, less bulky lines of the converse sneaker are far more minimizing on my large feet than most other sneakers. I've flirted with Vans, but they don't seem nearly as comfortable, durable, or attractive (though my rainbow sparkle checkerboards do make a statement...)
I have an old pair that I'm finally saying goodbye to, so my only pair of converse right now is a triple-upper pair... quirky, but hard to coordinate the black, pink, and violet with the rest of my wardrobe. I usually wear them with basic black. I keep flirting with the idea of picking up a couple more pairs and wearing Converse to work one day a week, but part of me rebels at the thought of sneakers in a business casual environment, even if they do have some hipster appeal here in the greater Seattle area...
I think I like the high-tops the best in and of themselves, but I mostly wear skirts, and I dread the stumpifying effect combined with the foot-enlarging effect of sneakers. Low tops can be done, but then there's the question of socks... they don't seem to make those "no show" socks in my size, and I feel odd about hose with sneakers. Going barefoot in sneakers is out of the question, because of the chafing... any ideas about how to deal with this?
