Some of you might know that I'm originally from Thousand Oaks. I'm so saddened by what happened there on Wednesday night. It's just horrific. I remember when I was growing up there, people moved there because it was considered one of the safest cities in the US.

And now this morning there is a huge brush fire threatening thousands of homes and people in the Thousand Oaks area. It is literally in my parents' back yard. (They were evacuated but allowed to come back at some point, even though they can still see flames. I don't really understand the rationale there, but OK.)

Anyway, I would really appreciate any good thoughts for my family and their friends and neighbors. And I hope that nobody here was/is affected by the shootings and the fires.
