Thoughts/Opinions on all the IG Bra ads

I hate shopping and or buying bras. I am terrible and go years without refreshing mine. I now live in a beautiful, geographically remote area hours away from larger store's/retailers. I have seen many ads on IG that promote bras made for older women (like myself) who are ample size (I am around a 36 D). I am tempted but do not trust ads on social media platforms (I feel like its my age and generation to not trust social media?). So before I begin the dreaded search new quality bras to replace my beat up one's I wanted to get some thoughts/ opinions on this particular product and the social media ads. Have any of you ladies actually tried any of the bra products being pushed on social media? Or have any other thoughts/suggestions. I could really use some help to get me off the fence.

No, I haven’t but interested in the opinions of others. I don’t trust ads on social media and heavily promoted products by influencers. Recently found that I actually love one brand I resisted to try for more than a year.

It drives me crazy that I will occasionally click on a link to an IG product and then IG floods me with ads for like products, even when they are wildly off the mark for me. Bras are one of the worst offenders. I clicked on one ad and now I see a bunch of ads aimed towards small-busted women, which is just laughable (32G here). I keep hiding them, telling IG they’re “irrelevant.”

The only bra I’ve tried after seeing it on social media is the Knix Catalyst bra, but that was after looking thoroughly at their website, reading reviews, etc. It IS a really good sports bra.

My requirements are more, um, extreme than yours so not sure my recommendations would be helpful. But Bravissimo has my most recent favorite offerings in that department.

Mtnsofthemoon, it is not a clothing brand, it’s jewelry. The name is Mejury and I love their minimalistic design, something that I was looking for in fine jewelry.

Knix is an underwear brand I’m planning to try, we have a store here.

Wacoal might be a good brand for you, that’s reasonably priced and not hard to find. I’ve had success with them in the past.

I used to be a 36DD and tried a Soma bra based on, not instagram, but Alison's review on Wardrobe Oxygen. A bra she diidn't want to peel off the instant she got home. Nope.

There's a reddit called A Bra That Fits. Also, can't remember the name, there's something like Bratabase that discusses bras in terms of whether you have more fullness above or below nipple.

I feel similarly to Irina about IG ads.

In terms of what you are looking for, I echo Janet and Vildy with their recommendations of Knix, Wacoal, Bravissimo, and Soma bras!

Bras are so, so, so tricky IMO. For every 50k people who adore a certain brand, an equal number would put the very same on their never-buy list. What one person doesn't feel can be irritating or painful for another. So IG reviews mean next to nothing for me.

However, like Janet mentioned, I am sometimes motivated to seek out reviews of the brand from other sites to see what others say. If all of my requirements in a bra seem to be met, I might try it if there is an acceptable return policy.

I am about a 32 DD and was shocked to learn that True & Co. bras work beautifully for me. They provide the comfort, shape, and modesty I am after (at least in their True Body Lift styles). However, I am also aware that there are an equal number of people who do NOT get the lift and support and silhouette they are after with True & Co. bras, so I would never encourage someone to try them without being able to return them.

Echo, I like the True & Co bras for around the house and even on days when I’m wearing a loose top and can get away with a little less support. I even wear them for Pilates sometimes because obviously no bounce control is required and a sports bra can feel like overkill.

Bratabase.com is a database of many brands and sizes -- because a particular make and model may not size up and/or size down equally well. You can look up a bra that works well for you and see what others in your size might work. Lots of reviews.

I am a 28/30 band with a large cup size, so Freya is about the only brand that works for me that offers adequate support. I lost enough weight that I went down a cup size, then discovered that my bras that had hooks to convert them to racer back solved that problem.

You seem to be a standard size, but since it has been awhile you may want to be fitted in an actual lingerie shop or at least get out a tape measure. I've read that many women wear bras that are actually too big in the band -- meaning that you may be a 34DD.

Yes, I agree with what Donna says -- it would be worth being fitted and trying on bras in an actual shop. I know that might be inconvenient, though, given where you live, so the next best is to order a bunch from some places with excellent return policies. Knowing the shape/ positioning of your breasts can be as important as knowing the band size and cup size (which may differ, anyway, between styles and brands). It can be difficult to shop for bras online but I have done it successfully. Having said that, I did it only after being properly fitted in an actual store.

I won't go near IG (or anything Meta) with a 39 1/2 foot pole- and don't trust online ads in general. Seconding getting a proper fitting!
That said, I've had luck with Natori, which I think Angie wears too.

Agree that is is very annoying that anything you click on out of curiosity starts haunting your every online move. And that a bra fitting is worth a 1000 pushed ads.

If you can get a professional fitting - go for it. Online bra fittings and fitting guidance has become quite effective actually!

Suntiger, I wear Simone Perele bras - for 15 years now. They fit the best and are the most comfortable. I used to wear Chantelle, but SP fits better. I have never worn Natori, actually! But most of my clients do. Great brand!

I wear 30DD and most of my bras are Natori because I can often find them at the Rack. The Rack has pretty much stopped carrying my size.

I like a variety in colors and matching panties.
